WR/KR Devin Hester is unhappy in Chicago and is looking for a change of scenery. Hester is the BEST kick and punt returner to put on cleats, but he has never been able to make a huge impact as a wide receiver. Lovie Smith’s handful of offensive coordinators were unable to use his skill set in a role like the Green Bay Packers used Randall Cobb.

Many of you guys were not thrilled about the idea of adding Titus Young off of waivers. How about the idea of adding Devin Hester in a trade?

He doesn’t bring a bad attitude to the locker room like Young would, but he still would present the problem of an unreliable wide receiver. Even if he can’t make an impact as a receiver, he would be a game changer as a return specialist. Maybe Mike McCoy could come up with a game plan to get Hester the ball in situations where he can succeed.

The problem with trading for Hester is the possible price tag that comes with it. Hester is 30 years old, still has a few good years left, but he only has one more year left on his contract and who knows what the Chicago Bears would want in compensation for him. A 3rd round draft pick?

Beaters, what’s your thoughts on Devin Hester? Would you welcome that idea?

The San Diego Chargers are interested in speaking with former Chicago Bears Head Coach Lovie Smith according to Adam Schefter.

Lovie has a 81-63 record with the Bears and led that team to the Super Bowl. He has never been able to fix the offensive struggles with the Bears, but he has hired some good men to try and find the solution. If Lovie comes to San Diego as the head coach, he would need to bring over someone very talented to help run the offense. Norv Turner? Just joking! Maybe Whisenhunt if he is unable to land a head coaching gig.

Lovie doesn’t run the 3-4 scheme in Chicago and the team would have to make that adjustment if he decided to switch that up. He has had success with Brian Urlacher in the middle of the defense for a long time.

He would be a big name and has the experience of winning. He just finished a 10 win season and was fired after that. He didn’t make the playoffs, but he was in a tough division. Things will be a little easier around here, but he would have Manning to deal with instead of Rodgers.

He first surprise on Black Monday happened when the Chicago Bears fired head coach Lovie Smith today. Smith has been unable to take the team to the playoffs for 5 of the last 6 seasons and the new GM in town will be looking to find his own head coach.

Smith was unable to build up the Bears offense. But who has that type of magic with Rex Grossman and Jay Cutler as your quarterback. The Bears defense has always been strong and Lovie should get another opportunity somewhere.

The dominoes keep falling.
