Wide Receiver Buster Davis has been put on the IR list and will not be available to play for the rest of the year. Buster has had a history of being injured and not playing up to the expectations of a number 1 pick. He has had an up and down season this year and was given plenty of opportunity to produce and will have to sit the rest of the season on the sidelines. It has been the story of his career!

Currently the Chargers have Malcom Floyd, Legedu Naaneee , and Buster Davis injured and Vincent Jackson will not be able to play for a few weeks. The Chargers are starting games with Patrick Crayton and Seyi Ajirotutu, with Gary Banks and Richard Goodman as the backups. WHO??? Exactly, 3 of those players started the year on the practice squad. Can someone give AJ a call and tell him that there is a Pro Bowl level WR available in Randy Moss!

Eric Weddle has always been an aggressive safety, but he needs to learn to save it for other teams and not blast his team-mates during practice and risk injuring people before the season even begins. I’m all for the nastiness, but there is a time and a place for it.

With about twenty minutes left in this particular practice session, Weddle, along with wide receiver Buster Davis went up in the air for a jump ball. Not unusual since Davis has been getting reps with the first offense because Vincent Jackson and Malcom Floyd have yet to sign their tenders. This time, though, Weddle came in too fast and the collision ended with Davis coming up woozy. (Meaning he now needs to undergo a battery of concussion tests. Fun…)

Head Coach, Norv Turner, played the incident off as an accident and said that the injury was not serious. However, center Nick Hardwick seemed to see something that nobody else did, as he immediately ran to confront Weddle before being restrained by his team-mates.

Some people don’t seem surprised that happened. A similar incident happened last year where Weddle collided with fellow defender Quentin Jammer in a pre-season practice that if it was any worse, it could have cost Jammer some time on the field.

Eric, we love ya. Just don’t blast your team-mates. You’re going to need them soon. Plus Nick Hardwick is a big, scary, tattooed beast who probably spreads defensive backs on his toast every morning. He has never worn a mullet, but I’m sure that he gets extra mayonnaise on everything.

Yes… I did have to segue, at least for a moment, into the demise of Jared Allen‘s mullet. It is a sad day for bad ass men everywhere who like to par(r)ty. (Yes, with two r’s.) He just doesn’t look the same without it. He just looks far too normal which, lets face it, is not Jared Allen. Alas, he is set to be wed soon and his future wife to be ordered the neck blanket on the back of his head cut off and put to sleep.

R.I.P. to one certified bad-ass mullet. The Vikings defensive line just lost 25 percent of its attitude.
