Although the Chargers and their fans will be rooting for a Tampa Bay win against Oakland today, the game that we will all be paying close attention to is in Cincinnati.

Today the Bengals host the Broncos at home in Cincy. Denver comes into the game with a 4-3 record. With a loss to the Bengals, Denver would once again share a 4-4 record with our beloved Bolts.

The key to stopping the Broncos is slowing down Peyton Manning and the Denver offense. This is obviously a tough task and pressuring Manning will be the key.

Peyton Manning has really started to turn it on in the last month or so. Not only is he looking like the Manning of old, the accuracy on some of his passes has been utterly incredible.

The Bengals are currently third in the league in sacks. Geno Atkins and Michael Johnson have seven and six sacks respectively. My concern isn’t so much about the Bengals ability to get to the passer. It’s more about the fact that Cincinnati has only 3 interceptions on the year. Veteran safety Chris Crocker has a pair of picks in 2012.

The Bengals come into week nine with a 3-4 record. Considering the fact that the Bengals have the likes of both Pittsburgh and Baltimore to contend with, Cincinnati can not afford to fall another game back in the standings. The Steelers are 4-3 while the Ravens lead the division with a mark of 5-2.

This is a very important game for the Who Dey Nation. It has also turned out to be a big game for the Chargers, so to speak. After a blowout victory over the Chiefs, it would be that much sweeter to add a Denver loss to the equation. Factor in a Tampa Bay win over Oakland and the Chargers would then be the only team to come away with a victory in week nine.

I don’t think I need to explain how great it would be to have all those things happen this Sunday.

So for today I’ll be supporting the Bengals and the Who Dey Nation. I sincerely hope they bring new meaning to the phrase orange crush.

Who Dey, Who Dey, Who Dey think dey gonna beat them Bengals…..nooooooobody! (That was hard to type, by the way)

Thanks a lot for reading.

The recent entertainment floating around the internet message boards regarding the NFL lately hasn’t been about pre-season games or rookie draft picks. No, it hasn’t been about that “gone then back” number 4 QB teasing and annoying football fans everywhere.

It’s Ochocinco. Yes, Chad Ochocinco is back and he’s more obnoxious and cocky then ever. After keeping a low profile during a hard to swallow, poor 2008 season with the Bengals, Ochocinco is opening his mouth once again. This time he’s calling out and challenging Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman to an all out brawl.

Ochocinco bragged via his twitter page saying the Bengals would face no contest in the week 15 matchup of the Bengals and Chargers in the up coming 2009 season. Merriman, reluctant to let the diss pass @replied Ochocinco via Twitter barking back, “Are you serious?!?!”

Of course Ochocinco couldn’t let that slide, so he threw out the double dog dare and decided to snap back with a boxing match challenge against the Chargers OLB star.

Shortly after Ochocinco’s foolish challenge a video surfaced of Merriman doing his best Mike Tyson boxing impression as if to give the Bengals receiver a second chance to think it over before damage was done.

With Shawne Merriman weighing in at a beefy 6-foot-4 and 272 pounds, my money is for sure on the Chargers sack happy stud. Ochocinco, a mere 6-foot-1 and 192 pounds would certainly be eating his words… or the Qualcomm Stadium turf.

After the back and forth jawing of Ochocinco and Merriman, the NFL had ruled there would be no “tweeting” while competing on the field. NBC Sports reported that the NFL has prohibited the use of cell phones during in game play.

Chad Ochocinco has a few words about that as well by posting on his Twitter page, “Question? If I tweet during the game and they suspend me, would I get paid during my suspension since it’s not a legal issue?”

Well sir Ochocinco there is only one way to find out!

Tweeting has become a problem with professional sports lately and pro sports leagues have raised concern about the use of Twitter during sporting events. Shaq is a great example with his every minute tweets before and after games, though I do follow him. What? It’s entertaining!

Speaking of entertainment, I’m curious as to how this beef will grill out between Merriman and Ochocinco so I started fallowing them on Twitter. I got $100 on The Chargers OLB. What about you?
