Will the San Diego Chargers pursue Jacoby Jones?

Jacoby Jones was released by the Baltimore Ravens on Wednesday. He would be a solid option for the Chargers to help out on special teams.

The San Diego Chargers have not had a solid kick returner on the roster for a long while. Ever since Darren Sproles dipped out to the New Orleans Saints, we have been looking for someone to take over the return job on the roster. Eddie Royal has been given the opportunities to take the spot, but he has been ineffective in his chances. Keenan Allen has been given a chance, but hasn’t really provided a spark. Chris Davis takes the kickoff returns at the moment and has shown some potential, but we still are unsure if he will be the guy this season.

If the Chargers want to add someone that would be an immediate impact on special teams they could look at adding Jacoby Jones. Jones was recently released from the Baltimore Ravens and could be a solid option to take the return duties. He can change a game with his ability to return kicks and punts. He doesn’t offer much in the passing game, but he could stretch the field with his speed.

The Chargers could use the help on special teams in getting some nice field position to start out drives. Often times the team is backed up to their 20-yard line and would need to drive the length of the football field to score. Jones would be a player that could provide that spark to the special teams. The team would not be able to keep two special-teams-only wide receivers on the roster though, so it would be a choice between Seyi Ajirotutu or Jacoby Jones. Which one would you want to keep on the roster?

Jones is one of the best in the business returning kicks and punts. He would be an immediate boost in production for the roster. Would you want him in San Diego?
