The San Diego Chargers made some upgrades in the secondary this offseason with the additions of Brandon Flowers and Jason Verrett. The team is hoping that these guys will be able to step in and make things happen back there. The team is also hoping that Shareece wright will be able to continue to progress from last season. Wright got the opportunity to start last year and continually improved as the season progressed.

To start out the 2014 season, the Chargers will have to face off against a tough pair of receivers with Michael Floyd and Larry Fitzgerald. Not only are these guys elite athletes, they also have the size that will concern Chargers fans.

The Chargers made upgrades, but the biggest concern on the new corners was their size. Verrett slid down draft boards because he was small and Flowers has the size comparable to Verrett. They have the talent but will need to show that they can stop big receivers in this game.

Here is the size of these players:

Larry Fitzgerald | 6-foot-3, 218 pounds
Michael Floyd | 6-foot-3, 220 pounds

Shareece Wright | 5-foot-11, 182 pounds
Brandon Flowers | 5-foot-9, 187 pounds
Jason Verrett | 5-foot-10 , 178 pounds

Just looking at the top 3 corners on the Chargers roster and you can see that the Cards receivers already have a 4 inch advantage over the tallest corner. It will be a challenge. If they are able to make some good things happen against this group of receivers, then we should have a nice outlook for the season.
