San Diego Chargers head coach Mike McCoy not happy with team practice today

San Diego Charges head coach Mike McCoy was not happy with the way some things happened in practice today. He was not happy with his team and possibly their effort in practice today.

He sat the team down at the end of the day and had this to share with them:

“It’s got to be important for everyone to come out every day and get better as a football team,” said McCoy, via NBC San Diego. “That’s the most important thing I wanted to let everybody know today. We’ve set a standard around here of what’s acceptable and what’s not, and certain parts of practice were not good enough today.”

Certain things were not good enough today!

It is the third week of OTAs and possibly some of the players are getting a little too relaxed. They are getting a little too comfortable and not pushing as hard as they were at the start of OTAs.

Hopefully the speech will inspire them for the last week of OTAs. The team just needs to get through this and will have a little break before training camp kicks off.

We need to keep getting better.

    Better be mad
We want a dam Super Bowl

    • Robert Fairbanks

No Trophy this year for the rebuilding Bolts.

      • The Bass

We’re not rebuilding! We have a pretty established team from last year along with a new core of FA’s and rookies! We have a tough schedule but we’re not rebuilding.

        • Robert Fairbanks

Can you predict the outcome of the season?

          • arnie

10-6, they will be the final four teams playing to go to the Superbowl.

        • Stefanie Smith

Thank you for expressing that. No, we are not rebuilding. The Raiders are in a rebuild. Maybe the Jets are in rebuild. Chargers are not in rebuild. Tired of hearing/reading that. Yes, we have a tough schedule. But really only the Seahawks and 9ers are killer. Even if we lose those, we are still in decent shapes–(as long as we win the games we should be winning). I leave Denver off the list because we already know how to beat Denver. Yes, they have improved, but so have the Chargers. We can win those Broncos games.

          • Robert Fairbanks

OK, Stefanie will you go out on a limb and give a win loss prediction?

      • Bill Nichols

Rebuilding?? Say what? What freaking planet have you been on? Or are you just rolling today? Either way, I thought this place was for true fans? And yes, we can predict the outcome of this season, no major injuries, and to the championship game we go.

        • Robert Fairbanks

Not your delusional planet; my Chargers got lucky last season and slid into the playoffs and did rise to the first level by beating the Bengals. It is a new season and the Bolts first rounder may not get to play for part of the regular season and that leaves the corners exposed. The Chargers are on the right track but you need to look at the big picture.

Get’em coach!!! A quick reminder that it’s a privilege to play the greatest game and their getting paid to do a job! I want no slackers on our team….

        i wonder why… haha

  • Stefanie Smith

He appears to be pretty reasonable and fair-minded. I wouldn’t be surprised if they were laying around on chaise lounges for him to say something. They better get their butts in gear. No patience for mediocrity and just getting by.

  • John Alton

From a leadership stand point, I know where Coach McCoy is coming from. There are times in training where the subordinates lose focus and the one in charge has to put a boot up there ass. Bad leaders just let that it happen. I know, I have been on both sides. You train as you fight and fight as you train. It goes hand in hand.

I have been away from the internet and all things sports for about a week and this is going on? C’Mon man!

i can watch this all da

  • arnie

Finally, the difference between “mediocrity” and winning, is a Head Coach that will pull the players aside and let them know this ain’t gonna’ fly. Then, stand in front of the media and say “this was unacceptable”? Bolt fam we’re in OTA’s.

  • Bill Nichols

Finally a bona fide ball buster…… So refreshing to see the HC feeling our pain as long time fans, kick all of their asses into shape or send them on to the Donkeys……. I know, how about a few thousand volts for those slacking bolts….. Na, too corny. But if you make em go a few rounds with Fluker that might get their hearts right…..

  • Robert Fairbanks

I just received (by e/Mail) my invitation to attend LaDainian Tomlinson’s Legends dinner on Friday night. I am juggling weather to spend $ 250.00/head on that event, or attend the home opening game vs: the Sea Hawks. If it is like those other dinners, the money will be better spent on game tickets.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

I would pick the game against the hawks

    • Nick619chargers4life

You might as well have spent 40-48 and did the LT5k . Just saying !
