The San Diego Chargers are slowly getting their season underway as players are starting to report for OTA’s.

We are a little over a month removed from the 2014 NFL draft, and there is a lot of hype around the rookies the Chargers selected, and even a few they signed after the draft. The Bolts did a great job addressing some of their biggest needs including CB, a pass rusher and adding more depth on the OL.

While many fans and people around the organization are excited at the promise of these draftees coming in and making a difference, it’s important to remember that not every rookie will reach his full potential.

Jason Verrett – will probably start out in the slit, given his injury, but will eventually move up as preseason rolls on

Tevin Reese – will serve as depth and will evetually run Royal out of town

Ryan Carrethers – will swap in and out with Lissemore for a change of pace game flow

Chris Davis – will make the roster but only as depth, maybe he could hop over Gilchrist or Ghee

Chris Watt – will rotate with Clary and possibly Hardwick since he is more versatile

Marion Grice – strictly a kick returner in year one, but could run Woodhead out of town in year two

Jeremiah Attouchu – sky is the limit, will rotate with Dwight Freeney and will aide him when he gets tired, will most likely be our full timer in year 2

Not the most flashy draft for us fans, but I sure am excited about it. A lot of potential starters in that group.

You had me until the Clary bashing…then not so much.
His salary is an obstacle…but he is a diamond as a team mate. That counts.
