Jerry Attaochu "I’m going to be an amazing player"

There is a fine line between cocky and confident. Players in the NFL ave to walk that line all the time and it is their confidence that helps them stand out in front of the world. Keenan Allen showed that he can toe the line of that cockiness in his first season. He showed up to the games and looked like a star when he got the chance.

Another rookie from this draft wants to come in and prove that he is going to be a stud. Jeremiah Attaochu feels that he has what it takes to be a star in the league:

“I’m going to be an amazing player,” concedes the 6-3, 253-pound Attaochu, in town for the team’s weekend rookie camp. “I’ve been blessed throughout my career and I hope to continue that here. I’m going to be a fixture on this defense for years to come.

“I was a three-star recruit out of high school playing with all these 4-and-5-star guys. I had the drive to succeed. I was one of the best pass rushers to go through Georgia Tech. But I’m not a big hype guy. I came here to go to work.” – SDUT

If he can provide a pass rush on this defense and force some hits on some quarterbacks, then this defense is going to benefit greatly. Everyone else on the defense will start playing better. He will get his chances to make plays. He will be counted on to get after the quarterback. We will see if he becomes the “amazing player” that he expects to be. We all are pulling for him to make that type of “amazing” impact. If this defense can perform, this team will be right back in the playoffs.

    I already love him

    • Ernie Padaon

agreed.. hope he destroys Peyton this year… a few times

    • Eli Rodriguez

I know im late but. I don’t know what is is about Attaochu but I’m not a fan of him. I really really wanna be but I just don’t see it. The only two things I like about him is speed and motor. Also I love his confident/cocky attitude towards his game. Other than that hes extremely raw. I’ve been watching his film and he reminds me of Barr. Barr just hits with more explosion. I don’t see any pass rush moves but he can be coached up. In the film he just runs as hard as he can to run into the blocker and try to get around them. When he played against Morgan Moses it seemed like he was just being thrown around like a rag doll. The tackles in the nfl are a lot better who he played against. IMO he could be a bust if hes not capable of learning moves and techniques. Or he could end up being good but I don’t see a star. What am I missing about this guy? Please tell me whats wrong with me lol.

      • Julien Bélair

Moves can be teached. Especially with freeney still on the team.

Attaochu has all the things that you can’t teach. Size speed explosive high motor great leader.

He is a freak athlete and great motivation. He has a very good balance and rarely pushed to the ground like Ingram which shows lack of lower body strength to support the upper body weight which is one of the most important thing for a pass rusher.

This guy has a ridiculously high upside and that’s why we love him. With his physical skills and his attitude he will grow and develop aome pass rush moves I’m not worried at all.

        • Eli Rodriguez

After watching a lot of his film he does seem to get pushed around a lot. Especially against Moses. That was a battle for him and he didn’t do horribly. The guy was enormous next to him. I’m not expecting much out of him for this year. If he get 3 sacks Ill be happy. I’ve read that experts are saying he could get over 10 in his rookie season. I doubt that would happen but you never know it the NFL. I’m hoping that if Freeney decides to retire that we hire him as a pass rushing coach. I still just don’t have very high expectations for him. I really hope that I’m wrong about him. He has a lot of potential but I see him as a project player for some reason. I don’t know what it is about him. Thanks thought for the inside.

        • Eli Rodriguez

I think i figured it out why I don’t like him. Its because hes not Van Noy. That is exactly what it is.

          • Julien Bélair

I feel like Van Noy has similar skills set to Ingram. Both are good instincts players, very good against the run, good leader and they are not pure pass rusher.

Those type of players are good to have on your team….but we already have Ingram… we needed a true Pass rusher. Attaochu exactly what we needed IMO.

  • Tazzster

I agree with the kid. I think he is going to be amazing.

  • Nick619chargers4life

I wonder if we can go ahead and use the Jerry Springer chant ” jerry jerry jerry” . I can hear it already lol

    • tonyloc1970 .

      That’s funnny

    • Ernie Padaon

that would be awesome… i like it

  • Gunnar Martin

Whatever his expectations are, mine will be the same. He has “amazing” written all over him.

  • Marcel West-Bailey

    Choo Choo better be

  • tubbs45

  • Parker Richardson

I love this guy already! Its amazing how many leaders are on this team! It might be bias but I’ve never seen a team that cares so much about players’ character. This is going to be a really fun team to watch!

    • Ernie Padaon

i love it also… sometimes i want to take a risk on a bad dude, but can’t help but root for the guys on the roster

      • Parker Richardson

Exactly! I am in full support of what TT and co. are doing! I love how the identity of the team is becoming more apparent

  • joneyk

For some reason I find it real annoying people calling him jerry keep thinking of ice cream or something

  • Marco R.

Anyone opposed to signing Greg Little? Just got released by the Browns.

    • Julien Bélair

Not opposed but I doubt he would make the team

    • afroamongfew

Absolutely opposed. I would much rather take a flyer on Austin Collie (injury-prone yet-servicable) than Greg “Stone Hands” Little.

  • Nick Mansoor

    Jeremiah “Attack You” Attouchu

    • CALiFORNiAkiD

      nice one.

Said this about Attaochu awhile back

“Attaochu is the all-time leader in sacks at Georgia Tech and will be a pass rush specialist at the next level. We know he’ll be good, how good is the only question. With Freeney, Ingram and Attaochu we’d be able to get after anyone. Give me Jeremiah Attaochu.”

I spoke about Attaochu throughout the draft process and was his biggest fan. (Sometimes his only fan)

But he’s exactly what we need. And Telesco agreed. Love the confidence.

    • afroamongfew

I can testify to how much you wanted Attaochu over the contingent that favored Van Noy or the few (including me) who wanted Demarcus Lawrence.

  • Robert Fairbanks

It is better to show us on the field instead of locker room bravado.
