Chargers Selection in FanSided NFL Mock Draft

We ran a mock draft with the crew at FanSided and all the editors sat around and made selections for their team. You can see how that mock rolled out right here.

2014 FanSided NFL Mock Draft

It turned out pretty interesting on the way it rolled. I was able to choose from a number of good players in the first round. Jason Verrett was the best corner on the board, but Odell Beckham Jr and Marqise Lee were both still available at the time of my selection as well. These are the “experts” of their teams making the selections before me and both of those guys were sitting there ripe for the picking?

I had to make the move for Beckham in the first round. What else would you do in that situation? When a player of that caliber falls down to your draft spot, you just make the pick and don’t look back. Hoping we get that same type of love today. Someone slides down to pick 25 and we are sitting pretty to make a selection.

    Would have gotten lee

      Im wit you on Lee

Would love to see Aaron Donald tumble

I agree 100 percent…beckham I feel would be the pick if available because he probably would be the highest rated on the board at that pick..not to pick fights but I feel those who would take lee over beckham are usc fans for sure…

I’m Duck fan who now lives in Hawaii. I would rather have Lee. Lee is a better receiver and he could be an outside player. ODB is more of a slot guy.

  • Nick Mansoor

The Chargers are more likely to have one of the top receivers fall in there lap than one of the top cornerbacks. Just some food for thought. I wouldn’t be surprised if we went WR in the 1st

    • Diegoblue

True .. I believe you might be right

    • Sergio Quintero

The boys at Walterfootball have the chargers taking Cooks, and their mocks day of the draft are rather accurate, food for thought.

      • Julien Bélair

Cooks would be a great pick

When a Player of that caliber falls to you especially at the skilled position you take him and don’t look back.

  • Sergio Quintero

According to NFL trade rumors both 49ers & Jets in heavy talks to move up to get Beckham, Jets rumor has them moving up to 11.

To say beckham making it 25 is unlikely is a supreme understatement.

    • Diegoblue

Beckham at 11?? You think thats a reach Serg..? I do.

      • Sergio Quintero

I do, I would take him at around 17-20, but 11 is stretch. GM get crazy sometimes.

I want to see if the chargers move up for Fuller, I doubt it, they might have to move to 14 to secure him, and that will be expensive.

I put my mock in the responses for Ernie’s.

        • Diegoblue

I like Fuller but I wouldn’t move up for him for the reason you stated. If we go DB and Verrett is there I wouldn’t mind it. I don’t think there is much separation within the Top 5 CBs coming out.

          • Sergio Quintero

I think Verrett will be an above average NFL corner on the outside, lets say he will be a top 25 corner very early in his career, and probably his ceilling is top 20.

          • Julien Bélair

            sounds correct

      • Julien Bélair

He is a sorry receiver… to me he is a second round pick

  • tubbs45

You let the board make the pick! BPA and area of need… There you have it!

  • Sergio Quintero

According to NFLtrade rumors, Bills actually seriously considering taking Beckham at pick 8 ahead of Ebron, he appears to be the super riser for the day.

    • Captain Kush

I doubt it. Last year they drafted Robert Woods and another receiver from Texas.

  • ioane

The guy runs a fast 40 and now he’s being over hyped. I would rather not take him. Lee will be the better long term answer. Josh Huff out of Oregon is just as dangerous and we can get him in the 4th.
