IT IS DRAFT WEEK!

Time to make a poll on who the San Diego Chargers will select with their first selection. This poll will be created by all of you and you will make the votes at the bottom of the page.

Interactive?

In the comments section, enter in the player that we are going to select in the draft. If someone already wrote the name of the player that you think we are going to select, then upvote that comment.

This way, all the possible options can be suggested by the Bolt Beat fam.

I will write out a post on the option that wins later in the week. Remember to upvote the comment with the selection that you like and try not to enter in any selections twice (even though I am expecting a fail on this).

Comment and vote!

Ok here’s my perspective on things and my top players if yea if Gilbert falls past 15 I say we go and trade up for him but his he doesn’t we stay put another senario which is unlikely is if Anthony Barr falls to us we take him in a flash Ok now if we stay put here’s my top 5 players I would like in the 1st
    Kyle Fuller CB
    Louis Nix DT
    Jason verrett CB
    Bradley Roby CB
O’dell beckham WR this is just my opinion and what players might still be there maybe but I’m hoping the Bengals who have the pick before us don’t take any for corners

  • 619chargers4life

This may not count but , I’m saying we don’t pick at 25 we trade down and out.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

im thinking more and more that this will happen

      • 619chargers4life

Van Noy here we come !!!

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i almost have him written down in pen that we are going to get him somehow

          • Charger2139

Me staying up every night till 11:11 to wish the chargers would draft Van Noy seems to be working!

          • Diegoblue

11:11.. Lol I haven’t tried that one in a long time

          • Charger2139

It’s the only one that works for me! Haha

          • Captain Kush

            Keep at it man. haha

  • Julien Bélair

    Trade up

  • Diegoblue

I’m going with Nix we need that Big Body in the middle to create pressure up the middle that No QB Likes also we can shut the run down and make teams one dimensional… Helps our LBs out which inturn helps our CBs.. The one position that can affect many…IMO

    • Julien Bélair

I agree but Nix isn’t good enough to do that…I rewatched his tape and I came out unimpressed

      • Diegoblue

I disagree he gets under the pads and establishes leverage to get that push .. The highlights and film in watched he does that and he disrupts.. He doesn’t have to make every play but to me he holds the middle down and doesn’t get pushed around. Exactly what we need.. IMO

        • Julien Bélair

I agree that he did that in 2012…but in 2013 I saw a different Nix on tape ..

          • Diegoblue

            True.. 2012 was more impressive

          • Sergio Quintero

He already has a knee injury that has the potential to be chronic, and he carries 350 lbs, that is not a formula I like in the first round, in the 2nd I can live with that.

Most mocks recently have him in the 2nd, give a read to Rang’s & Bucky Brooks most recent mocks, they both have him going to SD at pick 57 (2nd round).

          • Diegoblue

I can’t see him there at 57.. Would love it but can’t see it

          • Sergio Quintero

I see the chargers liking him more at 57 than 25, once again its opinion, but Gehlken was pushing hard how much they love Lissemore, take that with a grain of salt.

          • Julien Bélair

            haha true that

    • esco charger

Im pretty sure everyone on this site knows how I feel about nix what u just said I been saying for about a month and a half I love the nix pick but to be honest I think we trade back and collect an extra second and an extra third from Houston

      • Diegoblue

I wouldn’t mind a trade down to get extra picks ..

  • Jason Collett

I’m thinking we trade down as well. if we do pick at 25 we will pick Nix. if he’s gone we pick fuller

    • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

      Nix in BOLTS please!

  • Jacob911

    Kyle fuller

  • powderBLUE801

Trade down and grab VAN NOY. Bam

  • Nick Mansoor

There is a huge chance the Chargers will trade down for more draft picks IF all of our 1st round targets are gone. If we have players like Fuller, Dennard (maybe), Verrett, Ford, etc are still available then we will draft the BPA. If not, expect a trade in the first. It’s going to come down to whoever the Bengals select before us. Watch.

    • powderBLUE801

      Yup. Damn bengals lol

      • Nick Mansoor

Those damn jungle cats are going to ruin our first round selection lol

        • Julien Bélair

Well we ruined their postseason hopes so I think it’s fair :P

          • Nick Mansoor

lmao haha that is true Julien. But they did ruin our playoff hopes a couple season ago as well.

        • Sergio Quintero

I hope Roby is there at 24, so Fuller can drop to 25, I hear the Bengals are huge into Roby.

          • Nick Mansoor

if the Bengals snag Roby over Fuller then I will be jumping and yelling for joy.

          • Sergio Quintero

The Bengals have the opposite theory in drafting players, they like great athletes and production is secondary, this is a team that has taken gambles on great combine athlete guys with some baggage in Michael Johnson, Vontaze Burfict, Carlos Dunlap.

  • gpack17

I really feel its either trade down…or draft nix…or sua filo…or if available..odell beckham…highly unlikely on that last one though…

  • Tazzster

    Bradley Roby

  • Tazzster

Nice idea Ernie… too bad our forumites, except Jacob911, can’t follow directions.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      i tried

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

ya really the directions were pretty simple guys lol

    • Jacob911

Wait lol did I do it wrong if I did my bad

      • Tazzster

no. you were one of the only ones who got it right.
        Congrats!

        • Jacob911

          Oh cool lol

  • Edward Sherman

CAN’T WAIT to get a better feel for TT style, by next yr we will all have better perspective.

    • Sergio Quintero

I have my intrepretation you can say it can proven or not this draft, but going back to his days as a scouting director:
      - Likes overachievers over projection players, combine superstars with bad tape are not much favored by him.
      - Wont let a physical limitation pull him off a player, Fluker (bad feet), Teo (lacked bulk and speed), Allen (lacked speed), Williams (small).
      - Has a history of taking small productive players: Freeney, Bob Sanders, Tim Jennings
      - Is willing to trade up

      • Edward Sherman

I’m just sayin as the GM for the bolts in his second yr of service.sorry Ernie for off topic.

  • Sergio Quintero

Fuller/Verrett, followed by Cooks and Ford, the surprise might be Barr, if he’s there then take him, and take the corner in the 2nd with Gaines or Desir.

The NT question it sounds 50-50 on Nix being there at 57, the latest mocks by Rob Rang (CBS) & Bucky Brooks (NFL.com) have him going to the chargers in the 2nd.

    • Nick Mansoor

      this I agree with 100%

      • Sergio Quintero

There was boatload of people that wanted DeSean Jackson here, why is there no love for Brandin Cooks, that mystifies me.

    • Diegoblue

I would like Barr.. His upside is tremendous

      • Sergio Quintero

24 sacks in his first 2 years of playing defense, its not like athlete that has been a slug in the field.

Barr-Ingram at OLB for the next 4-5 years, that sounds awesome.

        • Diegoblue

I’m with you on that one .. Dude has only been playing LB for two years .. Just imagine when he actually learns the position

          • Sergio Quintero

That is a guy that could reach Merriman’s in his prime level, and that is the “white whale” the chargers defense has missed for the last 7 years.

          • Diegoblue

True.. We haven’t had that presence since

    • julian vesga is chargerfan#21

Steelers will get nix before us

  • Derek

    NIX

  • tubbs45

trade down. first pick in the second Van Noy

  • Will

    MARQISE LEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!

    • Sergio Quintero

I wouldn’t be mad at all, I like Cooks more than him, his 4.3 speed is for real, but either is probably higher ranked than the corners, OLB’s & Nix.

      • Julien Bélair

Cooks is by far the best small Wr prospect to come in the league since Steve Smith.

        • Sergio Quintero

The video of him vs. California and Utah, damn he was bitchslapping some players out there.

          • Julien Bélair

            haha yep

    • Jacob911

I hope he has a slide to 35ish and we pick him up with a trade up however I think it’s just about impossible

  • philiprules

Some guy who played some pretty good football at one of the major colleges. Anything other than that is just pure conjecture because none of us has the wealth of info TT has and none of us has any idea how the draft will go in the first 24 picks. Sit back and enjoy without the stress of trying to piece together the impossible.

  • Eli Rodriguez

Kyle Van Noy is the man we should get.

  • Rob Base

    Van Noy baby!

  • Parker Richardson

Trade down then draft Van Noy in late first/early second! But if TT feels he can’t get Van Noy later on i think he will pull the trigger at 25. Van Noy is spot on TT’s type of player!

    • Charger2139

      Exactly!

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

    Su’a Filo

    • Gunnar Martin

With you all the way on this one. It’s going to be XSF.

  • Marcel West-Bailey

With the 25th selection in the 2014 NFL Draft the San Diego Chargers proudly select Leon Sandcastle Cornerback Primetime University

    http://37.media.tumblr.com/4f466d9cc0284938c63310163f81f2c4/tumblr_minb7q73NP1ra90n2o1_500.jpg

    • Sergio Quintero

And you know he wants some of KC’s butt for passing on him in last year’s draft!!

      • Marcel West-Bailey

Exactly! So I’ve been thinking if neither Fuller, Roby, or Verrett are there at 25…Nix could be the pick. It wouldn’t surprise me if we go for Ford or Van Noy but I really feel like if Nix is there and we don’t address the linebackers they’ll force themselves to take Nix.

        • Sergio Quintero

Give me Ford or Cooks Marcel, you know I don’t like Nix in the first, not good value.

          • Marcel West-Bailey

Man if we get Ford…I think I’ll have to come to my first Chargers game in SD and try to chill with him again.

  • RZ

    Fuller,if he’s not there Ford

    • RZ

I would love to get WR Jordan Matthews in the second because I doubt he’ll drop far enough in the 3rd to pick him up.

  • jcrisp

I got a big feeling its gonna be xavier sua filo in the first round (I prob butchered his name) I keep thinking hes gonna be our 1st round pick.

  • Marcel West-Bailey

Anthony Barr. It’s a hunch and I made the point in another post but he’s the only player that we spoke to that could get taken LONG before we even get a chance at him. Most of the players we spoke to are 2nd through 7th rounders. He’s the only first round guarantee (sans Kiper’s mock draft). If he gets drops to 15 we could very well make a play for him.

  • Nick in PB

I think we trade down and take Van Noy. Gut feeling.

  • 619rockstar

    Cody latimer

  • Nick in PB

Here’s one that I’m sure will turn some stomachs. What if we stay at 25 and pick Roby? How are we all going to react to that one?

  • Daniel Sutter

At 25…Fuller would be my guess on who TT takes. If he is gone then these guys in this order…XSF, Reach for Van Noy, Roby, Ford.   Depending on how the board falls this is my guess on TTs predraft rankings…personally its fuller or try to make a trade…

  • Augie Baza

This is what I’m thinking. If Dennard, Gilbert and Verret are gone we may go Barr if he falls that far or Dee Ford. Outside lineback is a need for us due to the fact that we may loose Freeny or JJ after this year. If we stay put at 25 and Shazier is available we snatch him up. One of those 3 should be there. Shazier runs a 4.37 40 but may be a little undersized. Telesco knows how to draft WR so I’m sure we can gett a good one in the third or fourth round. Ghee and steve williams combine numbers were better than most CB coming out this season so we might be looking for more a bigger body which we can get later. If we trade down we get Van noy. So put Shazier on that list. Better fit for a ILB in a 3-4 but you can’t ignore that speed. He can always put on more weight. Ryan Shazier
