Based off of who the Chargers have met with the last few weeks, here is what the mock draft could look like for the first 3 rounds of the draft:

Round 1. CB Bradley Roby, Ohio State
Roby is one of the most gifted corners in the draft, but he had a down season and will be taken in the late first round or the top of the 2nd round. The Chargers invited him out to Chargers park for a visit and the team will want to see if he will be able to handle the NFL. They will work him out and interview him. Roby may not be the best corner in the draft, but he may be the best available when the Chargers select at pick 25. The need at the position is large.

Round 2. LB Jeremiah Attaochu, Georgia Tech
The Chargers want help with the pass rush and Attaochu would be an instant upgrade. The Chargers met with him during the Combine and also met with him after his Pro Day. He would be used mostly as a rotational player to start and would get a ton of experience from the players that are on the roster.

Round 3. WR Cody Latimer, Indiana
Tom Telesco went to Indiana for Latimer’s Pro Day and the team is bringing him in for a visit. At this time, this is the only Pro Day that we know of in which Telesco made a visit to. The interest is real. Latimer would push Vincent Brown for playing time and could eventually be the starter opposite of Keenan Allen. Latimer’s stock has been rising with his performances at his Pro Day and the NFL Combine. Will he last till the Chargers selection in the 3rd round?

I wonder if the Chargers are going to pass on Nix if he’s available and take a chance on Terrance Cody via FA on a 1 year prove it deal.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Cody already re-signed with the Ravens

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

If you read KP’s NT right ups on boltsfromtheblue there are a few NT prospects in round 4-6 that would be our best bet, Kerr being the main one. I like this mock though.

  • Tazzster

    Looks spot on, Ernie.

  • Rob Base

How come Fuller isn’t on the Bolts radar and Roby is! Grrrrrr

    • Julien Bélair

what makes you think he isn’t ?

      • Rob Base

Let me rephrase that why are the Bolts showing more interest in Roby then Fuller.

        • Julien Bélair

haha. because we think Fuller won’t be available

        • NativeSanDiegan

We also have character concerns about Roby, so we meet with him as much as possible. Didn’t someone on here say that TT went to Roby’s workout? If so, that’s a huge sign of questionable character and ultimately the buck stops with TT. He needs to be personally convinced that Roby’s good for the team.

  • Anthony95

Ernie, I think your a round early on each of these players. Roby can be had in RD 2, Attaochu in RD 3 and Latimer in RD 4.

So, RD 1 can be Nix and we still get those same 3 other guys. Or trade out of RD 1 to grab another RD 2 and RD 3 pick.

RG is still a big need as is C (Hardwick retiring at end of season). So, I can also see a combo of Nix, Marcus Martin, Bitonio, & Roby/Fuller in RD 2, 2, 3, 3

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

With our draft though, we are at the end of each round. Roby would be available for round 2 at the top or maybe in the middle, but i dont know if he he will be there at the end of the round. same with the others.

      • Anthony95

The more I look at this draft the more I hope Telesco can work a deal to trade out of RD 1 and gain a 2nd and 3rd RD pick. There is a few teams to target, TB, Jax, Min, Buf, or NYG would be ideal. If Telesco could pull it off, we could get: NT, CB, RG, C/pass rusher and fix both holes on Defense and replace Clary plus draft C for 2015 or get pass rusher.

  • Cgoodness13

The thing about Roby that I’m worried about is that he won’t develop up to his potential (which is really high) and we end up with another Cason

    • Julien Bélair

This is possibility with every player though

  • Marcel West-Bailey

I pray to the Gods of football we don’t draft Roby

  • gpack17

how many players did we draft last year that visited before the draft? just fluker right?

    • Julien Bélair

      teo

  • Marcel West-Bailey

    4: Daniel McCullers
    5: Keith McGill
    6: DeAnthony Thomas
    Call it a day

    • Diegoblue

I would love this finish but McGill and Thomas still being around this low ?? Im not sure .. I hope but not sure about that.

      • Marcel West-Bailey

Durability is a problem with him and he doesn’t really have a true spot where he fits. He’s a 5-6 rounder projection. So he could fall very low.

        • Diegoblue

Well if it goes down this way I will be ecstatic cause it will be one hell of a draft brother..

    • Julien Bélair

McCullers would be wasted pick imo. I rather see a G there don’t you?

      • Marcel West-Bailey

McCullers is fat. And that’s really all you have to be to be a good run stuffer. He can take on two blockers. Is he raw? Absolutely. But when you weigh as much as he does he just moves piles. And I’m not talking about the kind that come from his behind. He and Lissemore make a great duo. That Tennessee run defense would only go as far as he had to go to fall on the QB. We can pick up a guard in FA. That and I would rather have an experienced guard than a rookie. When it comes to protecting the QB, in my opinion, you want the most athletic guys on the outside (Dunlap and Fluker) and the more seasoned guys in the middle (Clary (but not with that contract he has now), Hardwick, and Rinehart.

        • Julien Bélair

but is he an upgrade over Geathers? I’m not sure

          • CALiFORNiAkiD

            Me too.

          • Marcel West-Bailey

Possilbly. I will say it could be a little too soon to decide since Geathers gets no burn at all but we need a run stuffer. Lissemore is not it. I can’t see that happening. So maybe it is Geathers. Shoot maybe it’s another DT like Ellis or Kerr or Thornton. I just know when I used to hang around people who worked on the D line, big NT is what they liked.

          • Julien Bélair

Well Jerideau just got cut. So we will probably draft a NT haha. McCullers here we come

          • Marcel West-Bailey

I think we’ll get a tackle but it doesn’t have to be McCullers. Out of most of the guys available he’s had the most responsibility to handle 2 blockers. If any of the other draft prospects can, then lets take them but when he’s that big, he just has to fall over and take people with him. If he can take the center and guard with him, that leaves Ingram and Freeney to have a picnic with the QB.

          • Julien Bélair

yep. Ellis is shooting up draft board. I was not able to find any tape of him though

          • Marcel West-Bailey

Well more than likely TT’s big board has him on there but I don’t know how far up Ellis will be and if he wants to get another tackle by sacrificing a WR he probably wants

          • Julien Bélair

Ellis is a fourth rounder from what I hear around the league. Which is perfect for us… but hey he could very well be picked in the third round… I guess we’ll see in one month

          • Marcel West-Bailey

http://www.utsandiego.com/news/2014/apr/08/chargers-cody-latimer-bradley-roby-nfl-draft/ here are a list of people it appears the Chargers are looking into

          • Julien Bélair

            thanks for the link

          • Marcel West-Bailey

No prob. You might not like this but we could be signing an UDFA dual threat QB from Troy. That and BR ranked our ILB’s saying Reggie Walker was the best. Followed by Te’o second and Butler third. Now BR isn’t he be all end all but I find it interesting. The guy with the biggest contract isn’t considered the best ILB on the team.

          • Julien Bélair

In fact I LOVE it ! we are going to play against Wilson and Kaepernic this year so this guy can prepare our defence in practice !

To be honest I don’t even check B/R ranking.

          • Marcel West-Bailey

Nope. I take that back. Misread the article. He’s working out as a WR but he obviously could still work in practice like you said.

I didn’t either until they talked about the QB’s but I just don’t get half of them sometimes.

          • Julien Bélair

They obviously are not accurate but they are entertaining

    • CALiFORNiAkiD

      No
      No
      Yes

  • vct

I’m guessing the visits are private and there’s no videos of drills or interview videos. I would love to see some of them.

  • Tony

If Aaron Colvin is still on the board in the fifth I would hope Telesco drafts him. i don think he falls to the 6th even coming off an ACL injury. If Lattimore was drafted in the fourth round last year coming off an ACL, PCL and MCL injury then this guy for sure gets drafted around the same time.

  • Diegoblue

I wouldn’t be mad to start off with these three brother..

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i wouldnt be too made about this either

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I think the Chiefs are dead set on Su’a Filo, If they don’t snatch him up I’d be happy with:

G Su’a Filo (cut Clary 5 seconds after this pick and pay the entire drafts salaries)
CB McGill (he’s not dropping to the 3rd 4th or 5th some peep’s are dreamin)
    WR Latimer
    BPA
    NT Kerr
    BPA
    BPA

  • jamfed

I wouldn’t be mad with these picks either…

Gut feeling that Roby slides to early second round, around the same time Attaochu gets drafted. Latimer is a good prospect, but maybe 4th round (IMO)

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

looking at the other receivers in the draft and looking at latimer, he likely can sneak past some of the other guys that are sitting there that are projected in the 3rd

  • CALiFORNiAkiD

I really think Telesco is going to trade back.
The teams who don’t get a Qb early will want Derek Carr.

    • Gunnar Martin

That’s the dream scenario, for sure. Hope someone gets that desperate.

  • powderBLUE801

    No no no roby.

  • 619chargers4life

We just released Jarideau. Can anyone confirm that ?

  • sditalianman

    1. NT-Louis Nix / CB-Bradley Roby
    2. LB-Kyle Van Noy / OL-Joel Bitonio
    3. WR-Cody Latimer / WR-Donte Moncrief
    4. CB-Dontae Johnson / LB-Jordan Zumwalt
    5. OL-James Hurst / CB-Lucheiz Purifoy

  • ioane

    My 3 round:
    1. Kyle Fuller CB
    2. Van Noy/ Attaochu/ M. Smith OLB
    3. Latimer/Moncrief/M. Bryant wR

Based on who is available, thats why I have multiple names for round 2 and 3.

    • jamfed

      these selections are Fully Charged…
So you’d say CB, OLB then WR, in that order?

    • Julien Bélair

Would be a dream come true
