Bradley Roby: “I would love to play for you guys and have a great career.”

Ohio State CB Bradley Roby will be headed toward San Diego in order to visit the team. He could be who the team is targeting in the first round of the upcoming draft. Roby is an athletic corner that would love to play for the Chargers:

“It’s time for them to get a great corner,” Roby said. “I would love to play for you guys and have a great career.” – NFL.com

Roby struggled a bit last season. He came into the season as the one of the top rated corners, but dropped off as the season went along. He is gifted athletically, but has to deliver on the field.

“I think I had obvious shortcomings, on and off the field,” Roby said. “I naively thought that I could just show up and play well. … Being fundamentally sound, lining up right, all the little nuance — I got away from that. You could see my play was slacking. I got away from what got me here.” - NFL.com

Roby could be a possible target for Tom Telesco at the top of the draft. His name could be called with the 25th draft pick.

      Lol that was funny.

I wouldn’t pick him in the 1st round, but 2nd round I’d do it.

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

if he is there in the 2nd, would think it would be a good pickup there.

        • Marcel West-Bailey

But providing we take Verrett or Fuller in the first would you take another corner that early?

      • Marcel West-Bailey

Would you take him if we took a corner in the first round?

    • Sergio Quintero

Roby just seems to be player completely off character, the measurables are awesome but the tape not so good. Telesco has repeatedly said that tape is king for their evaluations.

      • Marcel West-Bailey

Well let’s hope he keeps it that way. I suppose they are looking into every option but I seriously hope they leave this one alone.

    • C.Steele

      LMAO! DITTO!

  • Conor Cahill

Gotta say I would’ve hated the idea of this, but that quote would make me far more comfortable with him in the first

    • Nate Lew

Lmao why? There isn’t one prospect in the entire draft that wouldn’t say this sentence to all 32 teams. Especially a prospect with a shaky history pleading to play in americas finest city! I’ll be flat out pissed if we draft Roby, not because he doesn’t have the potential, but he needs a coach to realize his potential and I don’t think we have that. Verrett or Fuller in the 1st! Both gone? NEXT NEED!!

  • navw21

“More and more feels Bengals a perfect match for Bradley Roby.” – Paul Dehner, Cincinnati Enquirer

  • 619rockstar

    No thanks rather have fuller

  • Diegoblue

I’ll take him if he gets back to the 2012 All American form

  • blu3ny3llow

I would like them to go defense in the 1-2 rounds and WR in the 3rd…..but if Kelvin Benjamin is there at 25 would you guys take him?????….I kinda wouldn’t mind he’s a VJax type player…

    • Diegoblue

I like Benjamin he’s a lil raw although

    • Derek

We got jax in the 3rd and it took him 2 seasons. We can’t invest 2 seasons into a first rd pick.

      • blu3ny3llow

We got Vjax in the 2nd n I meant he has VJax ability

        • Derek

My mistake, still since Tt found Ty Hilton in the third I think we can find equal potential n talent in the third

          • Sergio Quintero

Have a strong feeling that Cory Lattimer is the chargers 3rd round pick this year.

          • Derek

I dono i think Tt ruined that by showing up at his pro day. Hope we eying other wr’s if they fall

          • Rob Base

I would be happy with that pick. Still need a burner for KR duties. I was thinking Jalen Saunders…thoughts?

          • Sergio Quintero

Somewhere between round 5-7 I would like to see a returner taken, the best options are Dri Archer, DeAnthony Thomas & Jalen Sanders, either would look great in SD.

          • Rob Base

For sure any one of them in a Bolts uni would be sweet! Wouldn’t be suprised is Archer is off the board before Saunders and Thomas his speed is ridiculous! http://youtu.be/GAy_a2pNdMw

      • CALiFORNiAkiD

        Actually late 2nd Round.

    • CALiFORNiAkiD

      I wouldn’t mind.

    • jcrisp

Why not just draft brandon coleman instead? Benjis good but theres plenty positions to worry bout and I wouldnt say benjamin would be the best player on the board at 25, there will be better choices

    • Sergio Quintero

The really high drop rate is my no sale on the guy, the 3 speed WR are ahead of him (Lee/Beckham/Cooks) for me, when you run a short passing game you can’t accept drops that easily.

If the chargers traded back into the top of the 2nd and 3 guys are gone sure, he’s not a finished product but the talent is tempting.

  • powderBLUE801

I hope we stay far away from this kid. His bar fights plus goofing off in practice = bad game play if anyone watched him get destroyed in the Wisconsin game you know what I’m talking about. I just don’t think he will fit in with our secondary. J. Addae will eat this kid and spit him out in drills.

    • Derek

U know him and addae train together right…

      • charging bolt

        Lol buuuuurn

      • powderBLUE801

If they do I don’t see him keeping up with addae. Where do they train together? Not saying I don’t believe you but just curious.

        • Derek

Not sure but it was mentioned in ut tribune (sandiego paper) I think that’s a good sign that he has the same attitude and also addae can give us better info on roby and his personality and scheme fit via strengths and weaknesses

          • powderBLUE801

Thanks for info. I still don’t like the pick at 25. But I guess I will do a lil more homework before commenting next time.

          • Derek

No biggie, this blogs for sharing info and opinions

      • powderBLUE801

Never mind I found it. They trained together In March for two days in Vegas.

  • veazy

No thanks. tOSU sucks. Don’t get anybody from that school, especially while Urban Meyer is in charge. He might be trying to fluff the Chargers, but I’m sure he doesn’t even follow them.

  • Nick Mansoor

Roby isn’t as polished as the other 1st rounders in his class, but he is an upgrade to our #2 spot.

  • Derek

I want him and nix. But since we can grab hageman I’ll take him or Gilbert and hageman 2nd he has the skills to be elite cb I think we don’t give enough credit to ohio’s defensive coordinator for Wisconsins win

    • Marcel West-Bailey

Please tell me you aren’t talking about Justin Gilbert

      • Derek

Lol yes, hey nobody was talking Melvin till he fell to us. We were hoping upshaw would fall to us

        • Marcel West-Bailey

Yeah but there also weren’t 3 other teams needing a LB either lol

          • Derek

The jets n Seahawks are the ones I can remember but there were other teams that could use his playmakerness before us. They picks coples and Irvin. I know my optimism is beyond reason but stranger stuff has happened… Look how we lucked out with the Eli manning trade

  • Rob Base

I hope it’s all smoke screen and Bolts draft a different CB! 1st rd talent… I don’t thinks so. I honestly rather go pass rusher or WR before taking Roby @25 IMO.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      absolutely agree on this

  • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

This guy is a 3rd round pick. Would rather bulk up the the trenches if Verrett and Fuller are gone. Would even take a Wide Receiver before Roby.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      right there with you

  • 619chargers4life

I really don’t care which corner we draft anymore as long as it’s in the 1st or 2nd round . Whoever it is, it will be an upgrade over our number 1 or 2 corner. BOOM !!

    • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

Naw Sharese Wright gets the job done, he was even locking down D Thomas at one point, so Sharese is only gonna get better and better.

      • 619chargers4life

        I feel you there !

  • Dave

    Nix at spot 25 please.

  • rod
