Steve Smith Listed Chargers As A Trade Partner

Steve Smith made a list of teams that he would like to get traded to and sent it over to the front office. The San Diego Chargers are one of the teams that he would be interested in joining. He has said it before, but will the Chargers make a move for the veteran wide receiver?

The Chargers may want to bring Smith onto the roster, but a trade will not be the way that it happens. No teams was going to trade for a receiver at his age that costs $7 million against the cap.

Here are the 5 teams that were listed on Steve Smith’s list according to the Charlotte Observer: Dallas, New England, Baltimore, Tampa Bay and San Diego.

We aren’t going to use $7 million of our cap on him. We might as well have gone after Golden Tate if that were the case.

If we are going to use $7 million in free agency, we might as well spend that money on a corner that can help out the defense. Spend it on a nose tackle that can help out our defense. If we get that, then we can grab a wide receiver at the top of the draft.

The Panthers are expected to release Steve Smith today and the Chargers could make their pitch to him. His interest is already there.

true… sooner or later we are going to get one of them for a nice price

        We have to.. Damn

If he really wants to play here, with Rivers, then get on a plane and prove it. He doesn’t need the money. Word on the street is Baltimore is the front runner, but let’s be clear, Smith will be useless under flacco.

HAAHAHAHA ITS ON AND POPPING BABY!

  • Preston Niedert

The ravens are showing interest in him as well. The chargers better move fast and sign him before the ravens do.

    • arnie

HA! if that’s the case, i know he just wants to get paid. We’ve seen flacco throw.

  • RussinSactown

I like him but I don’t like him at 7 million.

    • Raphael Rodriguez

it’ll be less than that they have to pay him a season. Dont worry

This is a little off topic but has anyone heard about Kerwynn Williams #30? He’s listed as our 4th string RB and as far as I can tell he might be Telesco’s plan for KR and PR. I believe it was last year, Indy drafted him 230 overall. Any info?

yea… smaller back that we picked up toward the end of the year. he returned kicks in college and did a decent job. he will be competing for that job….not sure if he will win it. he will have to show other skills on the field as well.

The panthers just released him we might pick him up for the veteran price

I think the pats will push harder for Steve Smith than we do. Out of all the teams he named, the pats are the only ones with super bowl or buss aspirations. I hope TT brings in hakeem nicks or Steve Smith. But with so many other needs I don’t feel comfortable with them using a early draft pick on a wr. Unless it’s the best player available like Robinson or Moncrief in the third round. No matter what either wide receiver will bring enough production to justify signing them.

Think Hicks is already a Panther.

Can’t wait to see what Telesco whips up for us. Love not having to worry, he has my best interest in mind , and that would be getting us to the big game. Going to be funny when all these big money types going to denver come up injured early and often. We all know Manning will choke it away anyway. Bolts baby!!

I don’t know what Wards injury history is but your exactly right with the rest .

  • RussinSactown

Well they released him. Time for him to take the flight west. Go west young man!

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Isn’t TT trying to go younger?

  • Gunnar Martin

I would love it if TT got him. He would make our offense even more exciting. He probably ends up a Raven though.
