Chargers in Play for Hakeem Nicks

The San Diego Chargers are in play for Hakeem Nicks. There is finally a little rumor that is coming out for the Chargers. We had Earl Mitchell rumors to start free agency and now there are Hakeem Nicks rumors that are floating around, per Pro Football Talk.

It is nice to see the rumors with the Chargers looking to get a receiver on this team. The Chargers offense was good last season, but we relied heavily on the running game and Keenan Allen was getting double covered a lot to end the season. The team needs to find another threat on offense in order to get Allen some space to work with.

Hakeem Nicks has had some issues with injuries the last couple of seasons and has had a couple of down seasons. He is also in play for the Carolina Panthers and the Indianapolis Colts. If he wants to work with a good offense, he will likely choose between the Colts and the Chargers. It all will just depend on how much he is looking to make this season. We don’t have a ton of money to work with, but we can make some things happen.

    I sure hope so

Don’t overpay him…just don’t. But at the right price go for it. 3-4 years contract

    • arnie

In that case scratch him off the list. it won’t be a good fit..

  • 619chargers4life

It kind of sucks he is visiting the colts . I haven’t seen one player visit a team and then leave to visit another team. Good luck to us .

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

it happens… munnerlyn is visiting his 3rd team or something. i think we signed derek cox last season as he was visiting the cardinals… (i think)

  • RussinSactown

Allen, Royal and Nicks. That can be a lethal combo. And of Floyd and Brown can bounce back, the wide outs will be as evil as the running game. Build TT, build!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      would be so awesome

    • Lee

hes visiting the colts first and to be honest i dont see him leaving there

  • Diegoblue

    LETS GET IT DONE..

  • rell dogg

If we can’t get nicks please get Steve smith he has all the skills we need

  • bolt Ness

    Tracy porter a redskin :0

  • Preston Niedert

No way he sign with the chargers Indy they didnt land decker. Odds are they land nicks what about Steve smith he a good option as well but the the ravens might pick him up.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

why would you say NO WAY? believe

      • Preston Niedert

Think about it Ernie he’s in Indy and he himself said he wouldn’t mind playing with luck. Also take note he said he play with rivers last to me that’s a if things don’t pan out Indy he’d sign here. If he wanted to play in San Diego we would have come here not Indy that tell’s you alot.

Imagine the broncos sign james harrison too lol

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

      No thanks = )

  • Derek

I’m not impressed by a wr signing when the draft is so deep. What would impress me is if Tt lured him for a fair rate 3 yrs 2-3 mil per yr.

  • chris01

On offense wrs brown, royal, allen and nicks!
    Rbs matthews ,brown and woody!
    Tes green and gates
Damn explosive! Easily top 5 offense

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      this

    • Derek

      But our o line…

      • arnie

….Will be fine. The Chargers have a 2 year guy that can play C/G under contract an Harris will be coming back to play Swing tackle.

        • Derek

This season is really going to put McCoy and reich’s skills to the test. Let’s be real. Harris shut down Allen last yr. our o line was beat twice in a row for a sack the same one we resigned minus horburger (too lazy to spell correctly). Yeah it was windy and our star Rb was out but they lost miller and still controlled the middle and held our offense in check without ward talib n ware. This is going to let del rio get a lot more exotic

        • Derek

Don’t mean to doubt my fav team but seeing a rival basically round up a handful of probowl players while we….. Undergo maintenance gets me worried. Last season my thoughts were ok we got good coaches we just need the right players to execute. Now that we are reling primerily on the draft to not be the same team everyone has a yr of tape on…. Again using my phone excuse my spelling

          • Calman21

Not enough money to go ape shit in FA like the Broncos. TT is trying to get us out of cap hell. I really don’t think anyone should have super high expectations for this year based on schedule and the division (although I think we sweep KC and the Raiders based on early outlook). We will likely get beat by 3/4 NFC and I would bet Denver is going to make it hard to even split with them. Next year we can really start filling all the holes in our roster and it will be the third draft for MM and TT, so I would expect huge things in 2015.

I think VB would be cut if we brought in nicks:
On offense wrs Draft Pick ,royal, allen and nicks!

      • Lee

thst gif is hilarious. is it real?

  • CALiFORNiAkiD

    Hopefully we get Nicks.

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I really hope they get this done!!!! I really want a good defensive signing, but I will put those feelings aside if they get Nicks.. that would be the only offensive trump card for me.. that or a guard ; )

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

yes…. slightly moving to the dark side

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Lol.. Nicks was my first choice in that pre-free agency article I wrote. Then get Ellington or Brown in the mid-rounds. I am just not a fan of drafting a WR in round 1-2.

        • Eli Rodriguez

I would love if we got a HEALTHY Nicks.

  • Nick Mansoor

Allen, Nicks, Royal, Green, Gates. A receiving dream team. Wow.

    #boner

    • Julien Bélair

Well nicks is not thatttttt good

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

WHAT!?!? you must have forgot who his quarterback was

        • Julien Bélair

Haha ur right but still.. Not a Redzone threat

      • Nick Mansoor

He is very good. He’s not an average receiver and not elite, but VERY good.

        • Julien Bélair

          That’s right

  • CALiFORNiAkiD

Vince Wilfork asked Patriots for his release, per @RapSheet. Wilfork made it clear to Patriots in recent weeks he will not restructure deal. – Adam Schefter

    Chargers?

    • Julien Bélair

      Damn yeahhh

      • arnie

        Not a good fit.

        • Eli Rodriguez

im fine with signing him to a 1 year deal but hes def wants alot of money which we dont have.

    • Diegoblue

      How much I wonder ??

  • Ht

    Remember folks defense win Championships

  • Eli Rodriguez

They should try to sign him for a one year deal. If they like what they get out of him then sign him to a long term deal. We will have the cap space next season.

    • Tony

Nicks made it clear he wants a long term deal. I don’t think he would go for a one year deal since he is/ has been Injured often in the past

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I would love to have Nicks as a Bolt, show Eli how he can actually play with a good QB for once in his life.

  • Calman21

Based on what we have seen of his attitude and ego, I would say it is unlikely we sign him. He will want big money and I doubt that TT restructures enough to get him one.

  • Brandon

So if nicks goes to the colts we are guaranteed to sign him next year!!

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      hahahahah… love that comment

      • Brandon

        LOL

  • Boom

I don’t believe in his health or quite frankly his talent I really hope we put our money else where I would rather sign Steve Smith and draft another wideout later it’s a deep position this year.
