Chargers Ready to Pound the Rock in Running Game

The Chargers made a move yesterday to bring in a backup running back. It is not the move that a lot of people were expecting, but it was a very strong move by the Chargers.

The Chargers struggled when Ryan Mathews was not in the lineup and it showed in the playoff game against the Denver Broncos. Mathews was not healthy to end the season and he was fighting through a lot of his pain to get on the field, but he couldn’t stay on the field for the Broncos game.

Ryan Mathews still has issues of staying on the field. He did a much better job last season, but when we needed him on the field, he was not there. Adding a running back that can take the ball between the tackles will be huge for the team.

With the Broncos going all out adding to their defense, the Chargers will need to find more weapons on offense to combat the new players that they have added. We have a running game that can pound the rock. Our best defense was our ball control offense and that will keep Peyton on the sideline more. Brown and Mathews will be big for our running game.

Our running game is set. The team can still use an upgrade at wide receiver and the offense will be one of the elite in the league.

If we can at least make one side of the ball elite, we should be able to game plan with that side of the ball to win games. Bring in that receiver, whether it is in the draft or free agency.

We’ve got a Steve Smith type, his name is Kennan. Would rather see a bigger guy like Nicks signed.

Thank you… enough with Steve Smith already.

I think Telesco misunderstood when people said we need a DB not, D.B.

So, what you’re saying is….if the Chargers can still pound the rock with RM24 on the sideline, they are no longer one dimensional, predictable and consistently keep pressure off Rivers to make throws down field?

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Run the clock out all day,16 carries for RM 10 for DB and 4-5 DW. Our answer to the air it out offense? Slow and steady and gas out the defense. Why not

Could the chargers sign Revis and shocks the talking heads as well as steal the the donkey thunder.if the saints who had less cap space could pick of Byrd why couldnt the chargers pick up Revis it could happen odds are it want but it would nice.

    • joerockt

We have just under 8 million in cap space. Ain’t gonna happen.

      • Preston Niedert

And the saints who had less cap space then the chargers signed Byrd so anything is possible.

        • joerockt

And now they have next to nothing in cap space. Blowing your load on one player isnt very smart. Asomugha?

Keeping Ronnie Brown last year was a mistake. Didn’t like it then that they resigned him. THIS is what they should have done last year. Now at lest if RM gets injured or reverts back to his ol’ fumbling self, we have a solid RB to take his place.
