Chargers in Mix For Earl Mitchell, Dolphins Appear Likely Suitor

The San Diego Chargers will be in the mix for Houston Texans Nose Tackle Earl Mitchell, per Michael Gehlken. Mitchell would be expected to be used at the nose position for the Chagers, but the Miami Dolphins are in play for Mitchell as well. If the Miami Dolphins land Mitchell, the San Diego Chargers could go after Paul Soliai, formerly of the Miami Dolphins since they won’t need him anymore.

Free agency is expected to start very soon and we should see some updates on the progress of these free agents. This is the only rumor that has some legs for the Chargers at this point.

If the Chargers were to land Mitchell in free agency, the team could then focus on landing a corner in free agency.

There are a few holes that the team will look to plug away at and they could do it through free agency. The Chargers landed a few good free agents last season and they will be looking to do the same. They weren’t big names and they didn’t cost big money. The Chargers might be looking to do the same thing this time around.

I asked Eric Williams of ESPN on their live blog about Earl Mitchell and Linval Joseph.

    This is what he said
“Sounds like Mitchell will pick between SD and Miami. Joseph would be a great fit, but I don’t think the Chargers can afford him.”

      his reply
“I think the Chargers wait until the second wave of free agency to grab a veteran corner. Tom Telesco doesn’t want to sign Derek Cox 2.0.”

Not sure about that. I am sure he stills have confidence in himself
