Donald Butler, Chargers Agree to Deal

Tom Telesco and the San Diego Chargers locked up one of their own free agents today after signing LB Donald Butler. Here is the status according to Donald Butler’s twitter account:

The details on the deal have not been released at the moment, but at least we know that Butler will be manning the middle of the defense next season with Manti Te’o and the rest of the crew.

It feels good to keep one of our own players. It seems like a long time sinve we had been able to do that.

Butler is one of the better players on the Chargers defense and it would have hurt to lose him to free agency. He has said a number of times that he wanted to remain with the Chargers. He is locked in to a deal now. Let’s wait to see what it cost the team to keep him around.

Clapping. A little off the subject, but it’s so windy out here, I expect Mrs. Gulch to fly by on her bike. Man, it’s windy.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Sweet, Glad he’s staying. Just hope he can get a healthy year in 2014 and show what he can really do (like pop out fumbles at the goal line in playoff games).

    • Julien Bélair

      16 games would be nice

Glad he is staying …happy I was wrong about him walking…now I can finally ho get his jersey….I don’t think its a damaging deal for the salary cap ..reason why they haven’t put bout the numbers yet…BOLTZ UP

I am so glad TT and the crew got this done. One less thing to worry about and get a sports ulcer over. At least he is trying and I truly believe the fact that TT and the Chargers made the deal means something to Butler–far beyond the money. They all say this. They talk about their team really wanting them there, etc. I think they take it personal when they are not offered a decent contract.
