Tom Telesco Looking to Canada For Some Depth on the Roster

Tom Telesco is already doing work. He already is gathering in some talent for his team. He is looking in all directions to add talent onto his roster. He signed his second player from the CFL this offseason and hopes that he can find a gem out there. I love that he will go through the CFL or any other means in order to add some talent onto this roster.

The players from the CFL are not going to cost a lot. They are players that are looking to get their foot in the door and they are hungry. They missed out on an opportunity for the NFL before, but have not given up on that dream and the Chargers are going to give them that opportunity. There is not a huge risk signing these guys. They are not going to cost a ton of money.

Cordarro Law showed that he can get after the quarterback in the Canadian league. He played a whole season in the CFL instead of hanging around on a practice squad and was able to participate in some competition.

The Chargers also signed Dontrelle Inman from the CFL this offseason. Inman has the size that teams like from their receivers. He stands at 6-foot-3 and runs a 4.4-second 40 yard dash. He will compete for a  job and could  help fill the depth for the Chargers at wide receiver.

These players are hungry. They took some time in the CFL and that gave them some seasoning and now they will have their chance to hang with a team during their offseason training program and through training camp. Hopefully the Chargers will be able to develop this talent.

Well at least we know where Telesco is looking for those “extra draft picks”. Get new players, with experience, for cheap? CFL.
If anything this only confirms the similarities to what the seahawks have done. The difference? The Chargers already had a Franchise QB, so we’re 2 years ahead of the curve, compared to what seattle was able to do.

Someone please remind me. Did AJ ever sign someone from the CFL? I can’t remember him doing this. I like the fact that TT will try and improve the team by any means necessary. In Tom We Trust

    • Ernie Padaon

as far as i remember, i can’t think of one.

    • C.Steele

Vaughn Martin came from Canada. He was drafted and hand’t played in the CFL previously, but at least he tried looking north of the border.

i will say this of aj smith he had a knack with undrafted free agents to improve the team.

    • arnie

No i do not think so.

  • rickochey

I like that TT is not waiting to put people in. He is filling voids now to get the cream in the draft rather than getting the draft pics and then filing voids

  • Julien Bélair

I love that he is looking everywhere very open mind !

    Nice read Ernie
TT doin what it takes :)
really like both these pick ups

Getting Law & Inman, is like getting an extra 5-7 rounder, plus both are successful players in professional sports league, meaning there is a work ethic in them and they are coachable.

Inman I look at him as a WR 3-5 on this current roster, and if you see his highlights he’s definitely a deep threat, plus his stats aren’t cheap, there aren’t much slants/hitches/bubble screen in his production. He’s used as deep WR, with a pop gun arm QB.

Law, was undersized DE from Southern Miss, he had 9.5 sacks his senior season, going to Canada was perfect for him, he proved he can pass rush, and take pro coaching, and his skill set sounds perfect for 3-4 team, he should be at least as good as Keiser & Williams.

Curious. Where are some of the places this team needs help? D-line and WR? Sergio this i why i don’t bite on knee-jerk reactions. I’m absolutely confident TT knows what this team needs and is fully aware of it.
