Take a look at the mock drafts and you will see the San Diego Chargers selecting corners. That is the biggest position of need for the team in the eyes of the mock drafters. It is no secret that we need corners. We need help out there and we are going to pick someone up in the draft. We could pick one up at any point in the draft though, but we will look at some of the first round prospects first. .

Let’s look at the top 3 corners in the draft: Darqueze Dennard, Justin Gilbert and Jason Verrett. Any of the 3 corners would be a huge upgrade for the team and all 3 of the guys are very talented. There still is a ton of debate on where these guys will land in the draft and all of them have the possibility of falling to the Chargers. The combine might have some of these guys move up and down some draft boards. The Chargers would be doing good if they got any of these 3 guys.

All three of them are strong cover corners and would be great playing opposite of Shareece Wright.

Dennard is the top rated corner in the draft right now. If he falls to us in the draft, we would get a tough corner that will play physical and will be solid at getting up in people’s face and making plays on the football. If he is available when we select, it would be tough to pass up on him..

Justin Gilbert is the biggest of the three and can help return kicks. He is a solid return specialist and we need one of those on our roster. He looks the part as a corner. He has the size to battle the receivers and will get a lot of attention because of the success of the Seahawks and their big corner.

Jason Verrett is the smallest of the 3 corners, but he can shut down receivers. He doesn’t get a lot of recognition coming from Texas Christian, plus he is smaller. He is a solid talent though and can get the job done.

The Chargers would be fine taking any of the three corners. We would just have to see who is available when the Chargers go up to draft. Which corner are you hoping gets to the Chargers?
