San Diego Chargers LB Manti Te'o Had Surgery On A Broken Foot?

Remember when the San Diego Chargers coaches wouldn’t tell us anything about Manti Te’o’s busted foot at the beginning of the year? The foot injury that had him in a walking boot for the first few weeks of the season and we were all tripping trying to figure out what was wrong with him? Is it possible that he broke his foot?

Sure sounds like he broke his foot at the beginning of the year and just had surgery in order to finally fix it up. Check out some photos from Manti Te’o’s Instagram.

So Manti Te’o played the whole season on a broken foot? Interesting!!!!!

That has to hinder a linebacker a little bit… A LOT A BIT! Especially a linebacker that is not fast in the first place!

Much respect for Manti for sticking it out for the whole season. He started out the season slowly and then picked it up as he spent more time on the field. We now know that he will play through pain and will get on the field as soon as he can.

Looking forward to Manti playing next season without the hindering injury to see what he will be able to do on defense. He has a lot of potential and should be fun to watch next season.

How long did the Chargers and Manti know about this injury?

Some people are unable to see the Instagram embedded images, so here are some screen shots of it:

Thanks. Hopefully this explains how timid he looked out there at times. Hopefully he can stay healthy and develop further next season.

Dang. I think Manti is tougher than we gave him credit for. What a stud.

        • Gunnar Martin

          Same. Can’t see it.

sigh… just uploaded the post to show the screen shots of them… WEIRD!

  • Derek

Wtf!!!! Makes sense though. Welp looks like we got another player making the leap next yr. if he just beefs up a bit so he stops getting shrugged off by rbs this defense will be top 10!!!! Well as soon as we get a nasty nt

    • Julien Bélair

wow can’t believe it. He is a true football player. He just got all my respect. I’m sure he will be much better next year and even more in his third year.

    • John Alton

Top 10? They need a lot of holes fixed on this defense first.

      • Derek

By the way we came together with Melvin, 1 nasty nt would make pagano look like Vick fagano

      • Derek

3rd dwn freeny on left Melvin on right. Qb getting less than 2.5 secconds

  • Derek

I think that’s a big reason y he played through it. Respect. I see him comming along like butler did

  • Rob Base

WTF…Wow that had to be painful for him and he fought threw it! Mad props here!

    • Gunnar Martin

I can tell you, as a linebacker myself, your feet are IMPORTANT! I can’t imagine playing through a broken one. All season. Sheesh. Mad props indeed!

  • blu3ny3llow

Hopefully they did a better job than on Larry English the first time he messed his foot up

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Did David Chao do the English surgery? If so, then I think Te’O is already ahead of the game, simply because he didn’t have to use Chao.. lol.

  • Dave O

He just got cut so much slack.

  • vct

i hope it is not dr chao and his medical group who operated on manti lol.

    • 619chargers4life

      Lol

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Dude… you and I think alike VCT.. every time I post a comment, I go down a little ways, and you posted almost the same thing. Too funny!

    • cameronmm

Chao was fired before the start of the season.

  • 619chargers4life

Beast mode , don’t know what the foot feels like but know what a broke toe feels like , I hope he is ready for training camp . I would hate to see this linger .

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Kind of negligent to let your 2nd round rookie linebacker play with a broken foot all season, if you ask me. That sounds like a recipe for making a manageable injury FAR worse. Our linebacking was pretty bad without him, but not very much better with Te’O waddling around on a broken foot. I don’t get it… why not have the surgery right away, and be completely healed by OTA’s ???

  • MachoMenos

So, apparently this story is news worthy only on Bolt Beat? I understand the national media ignoring it but our local media, too? A crying shame.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

right… the day after the post went up, the UT finally wrote something about it. Said that a Chargers “spokesperson” shared the news.

Didn’t know we were spokespeople for the Chargers at Bolt Beat?

The UT has been slipping with the new management on the team and ever since Acee switched out with Gehlken.

Thanks alot for breaking the news Ernie, I imagined Gelkhen got wind of it from social media and did in fact had to confirm with the organization itself if Te’o had foot surgery( Can’t make the same mistake of getting catfished). Only then did the other news outself picked up on the story deeming it legitimate.
