San Diego Chargers Meet With Northern Illinois S Jimmie Ward at Senior Bowl Practice

The San Diego Chargers will need some help in the secondary from this coming draft. Luckily, this draft has a lot of talent in the secondary. There should be plenty of options for the Chargers to select in the middle rounds.

One of the players that the Chargers scouts were interviewing during the Senior Bowl was Northern Illinois DB Jimmie Ward. Ward is a projected 3rd round selection. He measures in at 5-foot-11, 191 pounds and plays the safety position. He has done well during the Senior Bowl practices this week:

The Chargers will need to find some players for that secondary. That will be an area that fans will be watching throughout the offseason. Who will the Chargers bring in for some help? Will it be Jimmie Ward?

I really like him. He is a very good tackler. I think he could become a good CB that support the run and a nice Special teamer

  • afel

know this is random but my sexy pick this year ernie is………….
Yes kelvin benjamin because he reminds me of m80 a bit but a little bit better hes a high jumping guy and thats what we need along keenan allen and then you also have a nickname duo “keenan and kel” lol and I know we have needs but this years draft is stocked with done of defensive players so one more receiver wouldnt hurt I mean look at the broncos they have 3 good recievers we need a dynamic duo like allen and benjamin I think

    • Conor Cahill

Hahahaha that’s perfect. Benjamin is exactly the type of receiver we need too.

    • Julien Bélair

I also really like the skills set of benjamin but also keep an eye on Allen Robinson. He is fast, explosive and he can take it to the house on every play

      • afel

Ive heard about him but havent seen highlights but I will look him up and take your word on it I like kelvin also because dude has hops

        • Julien Bélair

kelvin does have the big body that Rivers loves so muh

  • Peter Thompson

Crossing fingers we get some safety help for Weddle

    • Gunnar Martin

Well I guess we know what they’re going to target in the draft, don’t we? Sure going hard at the DBs so far. Good. We need that. Weddle needs that. Hope we find a good one.

      • Julien Bélair

yep I like the fact that this guy can play both safety and corner or nickel. Pagano love those kind of player (like gilcrhist)

  • Gunnar Martin

Wow. SUPERB tackler. Takes smart angles to the ball carrier. I am pleasantly surprised.

  • Derek

Benjamin looks raw in his routes and reminds me of that Terrance Williams wr for the cowboys from Baylor. He caused romo quite a few int’s like Vincent brown. This class is short on wr’s. I say we go defense early cb,nt then bpa that meets our need, wr, olb, og, hb ect
