The San Diego Chargers are looking for some pass rush help on the roster. The pass rush was lacking with injuries to Melvin Ingram and Dwight Freeney during the year. When they were on the field, the defense looked much better. We need more players on the roster that can get to the quarterback.

During the Senior Bowl, the Chargers are looking for more players that can get to the quarterback. One player that could be of interest to the Chargers is Auburn LB/DE Dee Ford. The Charges scouts met up with him during Senior Bowl practices this week.

Ford measured in at 6-foot-2, 243 pounds and is projected to be taken in the 2nd round of the draft. He is quick off of the edge and has been doing well in Senior Bowl practices. Here are some of the remarks from the Senior Bowl:

Ford’s speed off the edge would be perfect in passing situations. Imagine how much he could learn from Dwight.

I really like Dee Ford. He could be that pass rusher that takes our Defense to the next level.
And at (6-2 245) Not only can he rush the passer but he can also set the edge.
Perfect fit as a 3-4 OLB

i like him a lot too. i think he would be a steal in the 2nd round for the team.

      • arnie

he looks more like 3rd 4th rounder.

        • CALiFORNiAkiD

Watch the the game against Florida St. he was everywhere.
          16.5 sacks last 2 seasons

And is not killing it at the Senior Bowl…2nd Rounder for me.

  • Julien Bélair

I’m sorry to all the van noy lovers but I do like this guy more. wow what an explosive OLB. I really like the potentiel.

    • CALiFORNiAkiD

Another guy I really like is Kony Ealy from Mizzou

      • Julien Bélair

agreed but he dosent fit our schem

        • CALiFORNiAkiD

          He’s being projected as a 3-4 OLB (6-5 270) Freak Athlete
          Melvin Ingram is 6-1 264

          • Julien Bélair

we would have two big OLBs. I like the sound of that. But to be honest I think Ealy will be taken between 10-15. It is still early though

          • CALiFORNiAkiD

I know! We can dream though lol

First Aldon Smith then Sheldon Richardson.
Kony Ealy could be next in line.

  • Gunnar Martin

Hasn’t he played as a 4-3 end so far in his career? Of course that can be changed, but I’m wondering if inexperience at the position is a factor here.

    • CALiFORNiAkiD

I’d say a large percentage of 3-4 LB’s now played 4-3 in College.
So it’s not that big of a factor.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

he would mostly be a pass rusher to start with

      • CALiFORNiAkiD

        Exactly

      • Gunnar Martin

But it would be correct to say that he hasn’t played in a 3-4 yet?

        • CALiFORNiAkiD

          yup.
