There is no secret that the San Diego Chargers will be scouting out the corners at the Senior Bowl and at the NFL Combine. There is a big need on the roster for someone that can play on the opposite side of Shareece Wright.

One player that the Chargers scouts are watching during the Senior Bowl Practices is Utah CB Keith McGill. The Chargers scouts talked to him yesterday after practice and here are some of the reports from the practice:

McGill is expected to be drafted in the 3rd round. He has the size that teams are looking for in the corner position. People are looking to find the next Richard Sherman now. McGill has the size for it.

I watched some tapes… not impressed. He needs a lot of coaching

  • Derek

This shows Tt is 1 deff drafting a cb. 2 still has a contingency plan if cox gets it together. I know I may be crazy but he wasn’t a slouch in college or the pros before coming to sd. His mistakes all seem mental. Drc had problems in Philly.. I’ll be ok with him not drafting a cb in the first rd. I hope we find a way to get verrett or roby after getting a starting nt or olb. The worst thing that could happen isn’t so bad either cox gets it together and the drafted 1st rder gets to be brought on slowly as a 4th cb.

    • Gunnar Martin

Kyle Fuller in the second please! That’d be nice…

      • Derek

His injuries scare me. Since Detroit has the same gm I’m betting they still won’t go cb in 1st rd bengals might dolphins might I think our best bet is to sit and draft bpa between nt and cb I doubt we will get another cb via fa. Pretty sure we’ll focus on getting a nt to replace cam draft a db 1st and depending on who retires (hardwick and/or Floyd) go from there

    • Julien Bélair

we can’t have too much good CBs can we?

      • Derek

Ur right. But it leads to an unbalanced team. Imagine getting a nt that needs a yr like the one the broncos drafted. Teams line up in pro and run up the gut for 5 and 6 yards at a time. The broncos were where we are and this yr are in the Super Bowl. I want the same. Every team in the playoffs showed balance and versatility.

        • Julien Bélair

Of course that is pretty much the plan but you have to go with BPA.. if there is no NT worth of the 25th pick then we have to look somewhere else. But I also think a NT is our biggest need this offseason

          • Derek

It is I hope we can keep cam cheap get franklin (if he is cheap) and draft a nt early. Let em battle in camp. I think our undrafted guys need 1 more season as rotational to determine their caliber

          • Julien Bélair

for the best case scenario is Nix falling to us but quite honestly I don’t see it happening. Maybe a FA pick up but Franklin is old I don’t know what kind of production we can expect from him next season

          • Derek

There are a couple cb’s in fa so that should help us out. Not as many nt’s so a 1st rd bpa cb is possible

          • Julien Bélair

ur right. my dream FA pick up would be vontae davis or alterraun verner :)

          • Derek

            What about Altrun verner?

          • Julien Bélair

he is a FA and on of the best rated cb from pff.

          • Derek

Not better than Patrick Peterson…. There’s always the the homefield lure plus we were this close from a ring. But I doubt Tt buying another cb so soon I just hope he doesn’t pass up on the top 4.

  • Conor Cahill

The comparisons to Sherman or Browner based on size alone really bother me. I watched McGill all season for that reason, but he is a log way off from either of them. For one, Sherman is insanely fast and instinctive. McGill makes a lot if mental mistakes. McGill is also well behind Sherman in his understanding of routes and coverage technique.

  • Gunnar Martin

I can’t say that I am extremely impressed by McGill. I’ve seen him play, and he’s just alright. I guess he could’ve gotten better since the last time I saw him, but IMO he’s overrated.

  • Derek

Looks like 2010 colts Kevin Thomas I hope bill polian made that pic not tt
