San Diego Chargers Scouts Meet With UCLA LB Jordan Zumwalt At Senior Bowl Practice

San Diego Chargers scouts met with UCLA LB Jordan Zumwalt after Senior Bowl practices yesterday, per Walter Football. Zumalt is a hard-hitting linebacker that is projected to be selected in the 3rd or 4th round. From the reports at the Senior Bowl, the dude is INTENSE. Check out what people are saying:

The guy is on the field and is ready to hit some people. Zumwalt is an intense football player and will look to lay the wood when he gets to the ball carrier. That is something that the Chargers and any team could use more of. There might be a fines coming in his career.

    Love it!!

So he plays like J. Addae. I like it! Put some BOLTS on that bad boy!!!

    • Ernie Padaon

dude sounds crazy… and i like it

  • Rob Base

    Sign him up Telesco!

  • Peter Thompson

Maybe he can show Manti how to lay the wood, instead of waiting for the running back to come to him, and tackle him after a 5-8 yard gain… lol.

Sounds like they could be preparing for a future without D.Butler?

    • ECAVILLE/Ace of Spades

I don’t believe they would get rid of Butler. I could see them franchising him. This Jordan Zumwalt seems to be a swiss army knife type Linebacker who could add much needed depth. Learning skills from Dwight Freeny would make Zumwalt one hell of a quarterback sacking machine!

      • arnie

I don’t believe they will either, but at the end of the day, Butler has to agree to the contract they offer him. Talking to a kid like Zumwalt tells me the Chargers aren’t taking any chances.

      is zumwalt an ILB?

      • mincon

He played both inside and outside at UCLA. I preferred him at outside, but they shifted him to inside for personnel reasons half-way through his junior season. He played his entire senior year at ILB. Dude is a beast.

      • Ernie Padaon

he played all over… mainly middle

    • boltingindiego

i think they will sign butler and pick up an ilb either in the draft or fa. we need a back up ILB who can actually play if one of the starters is injured and bird is not the word.

      • Ernie Padaon

Exactly… We saw what happened when Manti or Butler were out

      • arnie

My hope is they want to sign Butler too. If you’re Telesco, are you willing to bet your job, or the future of the franchise that Butler will take the deal he’s offered and Zumwalt isn’t a bust? The best possible scenario I could see, if they can’t reach a deal, they franchise Butler for 2014, and work out deal with more cap space in 2015. And still get Zumwalt in the draft.

  • Dark

he could probably start opposite of ingram and they could wreak havoc on opposing quarterback lets get him in the third bolt up

  • Gunnar Martin

He seems okay. I’d be fine with getting him in the fourth. But anything before that would be too high IMO.
