San Diego Chargers Scout Meets With Wyoming WR Robert Herron

The Chargers should have some interest on some receivers going into the draft. Last season, Keenan Allen stood out on offense, but he didn’t have much help on the opposite side from Vincent Brown. Malcom Floyd is questionable to return next season and Danario Alexander may never be healthy enough to contribute.

During Senior Bowl practice, a Chargers scout interviewed with Wyoming WR Robert Herron:

Herron has been getting good reports during Senior Bowl practices:

He is projected to be drafted in the 3rd round by CBS Sports. He stands at 5-fooot-10, 187 pounds. This season, Herron accounted for 72 receptions for 937 yards and 9 touchdowns.

If he’s available in the 4th round and he can return kicks I could see him as our future slot guy.

  • Rob Base

He’s a speedster that can play RB and KR too!

  • Gunnar Martin

    “Is he fast?”

    “Yup. A burner.”

“He’s our man. Go get ‘im.”

Guess who? (Hint: not Al Davis)

  • Daryl Peek

Just watched a few highlights of his and the first thing that comes to mind is Reggie Bush. His open field running style reminds me of Bush catching passes from Brees in NO. Haven’t come across any KR footage yet. But he looks like he be awesome as one. NFL draft scouts has him projected to run the 40 as low as 4.28, WOW!

    • Gunnar Martin

4.28? Really? He looked fast, but he didn’t look THAT fast! lol. And now that you brought it up, I do see a little Reggie in him. Interesting.

possible replacement for royal? that means we’d free up a lot of cap space. i like royal tho

  • Cameron Harris

As a huge Bolts fan from Wyoming. I can say Herron is legit, he made a lot of DB’s look silly, and he YACs like crazy. If SD picks him up, we would have two great Wyoming receivers on the team, barring Malcom’s health.

  • Sergio Quintero

Clearly TT is looking for the next T.Y. Hilton, sounds like a damn good option, plus MWC players seems to get underrated for “level of competition”, sounds like a worthy 3-4 round investment.

  • Jerello

Since we are in the topic of receivers, I’ve got one name for you all: Brandon Coleman.

    • Gunnar Martin

I like him. He’s a lot like Mike Willie, except maybe a little faster. He’d be an exciting pickup in the fourth round or so.

Royal replacement? Same size and fast too!
