San Diego Chargers WR Keenan Allen and RT D.J. Fluker were selected to the 2013 All-Rookie Team by Pro Football Writers of America. Tom Telesco did an excellent job of stacking this team with young talent from the draft. With Fluker and Allen on the roster, the offense has a couple of cornerstones to build off of in the future. The future is looking bright.

Telesco also selected Manti Te’o in that draft and he should be a solid starter for the team in the next few years. He started out slow in his rookie year, but as he was getting more comfortable on the field he was able to become more of a playmaker. He wasn’t selected to the All-Rookie team, but he should be a solid piece moving forward.

It is good to see some rookies getting recognition on the Chargers roster. Both Fluker and Allen had been influential in the team’s turnaround.

Going into this years draft, the expectations are going to be high. After pulling in that haul last offseason, the fans will be looking for another excellent class of rookies.

I hope telesco can pick defense as good as he does offense. Looking at the colts past seems that they made some misses at places we are deficient in cb, nt ect. I’ve already heard the he wasn’t gm there so who knows how much input he had in the choices which stars he choose vs which busts had him fooled.

it will be interesting to watch… that is where are biggest holes are at… he did select derek cox in free agency…. so… there is that

      • Derek

I don’t blame cox on him, cox had me fooled too. Granted I’m not saying I have an eye equal to a seasoned scout and now gm. But cox looked like he was turning a corner in jax. He had experience on the outside, kept Andre Johnson, Kenny britt relatively in check. When he wasn’t injured he produced on the field. His resume was simmilar to that of vonte Davis from the dolphins. But whether it’s the scheme being zone and he’s a pure man cb or his technique is sloppy and undisciplined (I’ve seen examples of both) he flopped here. At this point the next decision Tt makes reguarding cox I hold him accountable.

agreed… i thought cox would be a good pickup also

          • Derek

Don’t mean to be hateful but it burns seeing a former charger shine elsewhere. (Vasquez, Tolbert, Jackson Phillips) also their lack of love for the organization.

      • Derek

I’m still holding out hope cox was playing hurt. And will prove himself training and rehabbing in the offseason. His sudden decline perplexes me, up and down years for a cb usually only happen in college.

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

not sure if he will get that chance in San Diego though.

You can’t be perfect. But the good part is the contract they negotiated. I believe they can cut Cox with no hit to the salary cap.

And I fully expect him to be cut. He is not a 4 million dollar man.

Williams looked good before his injury, Teo had great awareness and will be a very good player soon

      • Derek

Hope your right, way to soon to call anyone he picked a bust but just saying his history isn’t so rich with defensive playmakers. Granted he had Peyton manning who kept him from cracking the top 10.

  • 619chargers4life

I can’t wait to see what Steve Williams can do .

    • Gunnar Martin

      Same here

I have a quick question, do we keep Marshal on the roster or let him walk?

    • Derek

Let him test fa If he doesn’t take vet minimum plus bonus. Because he would be a good reserve for if the next cb we get via fa or draft gets hurt. I say let him and cox battle for a spot.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

i would keep him.. hard to find good corners and he knows the system. wouldn’t want him to be the starter, but he is good depth or he can compete for that starting job.

  • Gunnar Martin

I think it’s safe to say we had the best draft in the entire league this year.
