2013 Chargers Team Awards Announced

The San Diego Chargers have announced their team awards today, after getting eliminated from the playoffs. It was a great run and here are the awards that were handed out to the team:

2013 MVP: Philip Rivers
2013 Offensive Player of the Year: Ryan Mathews
2013 Defensive Player of the Year: Eric Weddle
2013 Special Teams Player of the Year: Darrell Stuckey
2013 Lineman of the Year: Nick Hardwick
2013 Co-Most Inspirational Player: Nick Hardwick
2013 Co-Most Inspirational Player: Jarret Johnson
2013 Co-Most Inspirational Player: D.J. Fluker

Nice to see Fluker get recognized already in his rookie season as an inspirational player. Can’t disagree with those awards.

Keenan Allen also deserves to be recognized for his contribution to the offensive side of the football. Not sure where the team would be without him on offense. Ryan Mathews did a phenomenal job on offense this year as well.

Melvin Ingram could have also been named an inspirational player for fighting through that injury and getting back on the field and contributing to the late season run.

They forgot one…best play caller…bolt beat open thread. Obvisouly our thought process is better than whiz’s game plan.

Man I hate Whiz. Can’t wait for a new OC. We lost that game cause of Whiz and Bird. Bird gave up to critical first down on 3 downs. I honestly think Whiz was distracted and didn’t care much. Don’t think he really sat there and put a good game plan. Either way he is out and Gurantee a coaching head job. F U Whiz.

I just hope they don’t bring in another re-tread head coach to call plays, like Kubiak. The second they do well, they will be offered a new HC job. We need to bring in an offensive innovator, who is aggressive, has fresh eyes, and won’t cut off his nose to spite his face. Someone who is young enough, that nobody will offer him an HC job for at least a few years.

I wouldnt mind the age as long as the oc is willing to throw down field between five to ten times a game. I truly believe green and Allen are caple of catching it. Plus we are getting back denario and possibly Floyd.

i just want them in the no huddle all game long…. has anyone really stopped that this year?

        • Stefanie Smith

At least hire somebody that is loyal to the Chargers and actually wants the o-coordinator job. In reality, if we were a SB mind set team, the product that Whisenhunt put out there should get him canned or in serious crap. That was not something he should add to his resume. He probably will just lie and blame it on the players.

        • Gunnar Martin

That sounds really familiar Pete.. a lot like that one guy Denver had as their O-coordinator a year back… except then he was hired as a head coach somewhere…

      • Ernie Padaon

Bird is so bad at middle linebacker. It was sad seeing Te’o leave.

        • Thomas Lloyd

That’s what I know. If Manti plays the full game, we win! Bird sucks at MLB the way whiz sucks at calling plays

    • Peter Thompson

YES!!!! This comment is not only true, but totally awesome.

They’re writing articles on about whether Whisenhunt was distracted. I think the media was asking McCoy about it at the final press conference today. McCoy got mad when somebody asked about it. Michael Silver from NFL Network is reporting that people from the Chargers’ organization are saying that Whisenhunt was going around last week recruiting offensive staff and asking if they wanted to go with him to his next job. If these staff people are bringing it up, it had to bother them or stand out in their minds.

How is that getting prepared for a playoff game against Manning and the Broncos?

Man, I could just punch this guy.

Well those awards seem pretty fair. Gotta love the fact that DJ got in there his rookie season. What a stud. It’s a good thing we will (at least should) have all these guys back next season.
