Remembering Norv Turner: Chargers Aren’t Close to the Playoffs

Norval. Norval. NORVAL.

Remember when we fired Norv Turner last year around this time? As he was leaving he shoved out of the door he had some parting shots for the roster of the team. Let’s walk down memory lane here:

“Someone wrote a few weeks ago that this team is not that far away from the playoffs. I would disagree. I know the things that would have to get done for that to happen. If this team comes next year and they get some things done to help them get better and are able to make the playoffs, I would hope it would be a surprise to all the Chargers fans, and they would be excited about it,” Turner said, via the San Diego Union-Tribune. ”I would hope it would not be the expectation starting in August because I think you need to give whoever the guy who comes in here and the group he brings in some time to get back this thing back to where it was.”

Looks like we only needed one season in order to get back to the playoffs. It was a bit of a surprise, but who doesn’t like surprises! Sorry Norv, we know that you held the team back.

I posted this on twitter the moment we won the game, FUCK NORV TURNER AND HIS TURKEY NECK! GOBBLE GOBBLE MOTHER FUCKER WERE IN THE PLAYOFFSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

I was sad to hear Browns won’t fire the assistant coaches.

    • Stefanie Smith

They will, eventually. No new coach is going to stick with somebody’s else’s staff.

      • arnie

Wow imagine that. Norvs genius at play calling got his boss fired?

  • http://boltbeat.com/ ChargerGirl Cindi

Its our time and ditto on what PakMan said.

  • Marcus Amure

    Kiss it Norv :D

Said the same the instant we got in

  • Derek

I’m Soo glad u dug this up! I never forgot those words by a parting norv. I don’t hate him cuz he have his all trying to win here but this is confirmation of him being an inept coach or oc.

  • 619chargers4life

    Norvs a joke

  • Tazzster

Norv left a year ago. I think it is time for all of us to move on and look towards the future.

    • arnie

No. I think it’s important to serve humble pie when it’s deserved. For quite some time we were all witness and held hostage to norvs limitations, yet the pundits continued ignore this, and fill our heads with nonsense of his superior coaching abilities.

      • Tazzster

On the field you would get a penalty for taunting. Seriously let it go. I am sure the dude is aware of how wrong he was. Let’s focus on Cincinnati and enjoying making the playoffs, lets not dig up the disappointments of the past.

        • arnie

But we’re not on the field, we’re fans. Seriously. Look I’ve been waiting for this quite some time, and I’m not going to let the opportunity to set the record straight pass by. I don’t think he believes he was wrong, norv said he believed in what he was doing to the very end. And it’s only now, we set all the talk an speculation aside and see the truth.
See my focus, has been on this moment before the season started, and it’s only the enjoyment seeing the Chargers back in the playoffs can we truly bury the past. Let’s be clear on two things Tazzster, you an I don’t see things eye to eye on this subject and I’ll respect that. The other, you’ve been on this board long enough to hear the past brought up over and over again, ” …Different coaches same ol’ Chargers blah blah…”. The truth is, if the Bolts don’t win next sunday, those same disappointments won’t go away. One an done?
          Enjoy the game GO BOLTS!!

Clown Shoes… the team needed work, but YOU were the one who was not close to seeing the playoffs, loser.
See ya, Norv!!!! Nobody gives a fuck aboutcha! Except for maybe Michael Irvin, and Troy Aikman… and YES… it was awesome to see Irvin’s face when the Cowboys choked again last night.. maybe next year turd-bucket… bwahaha = )

  • Imsloan68

The sad, sagging, pathetic saga of Norv continues. He’s become the Shelley Levine of coaches

  • Louie Reyes

    I hate NORV!!!!

  • Nolan

Dear Chargers thanks for getting rid of Norv Turner!!
    Love all Chargers fans

  • Cgoodness13

Dude had no idea what his team was capable of, I bet he thought rivers was just a QB and Weddle was just some Safety. And we can laugh at his work with the browns also

  • Bill Nichols

That pole smoking Turkey neck mofo’er, can kiss all of our collective asses!!!!! Suck it Norv, maybe you can con someone else into a HC job now that there are 5 available, hope you score so we can kick your sorry ass. Bolts Up Norvs Assssssssss!!!!!!!!!

  • Shwan

    To be fair,

Chargers needed two teams to choke and referees to suddenly forget to count to 7 on a Field Goal playing against a bunch of 2nd stringers to get into the Playoffs.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

it doesn’t matter if you win by an inch or a mile….

      • Shwan

Succop went wide right because the Chargers illegally flooded the left side of the line. Then ON TOP of that, you have a questionable forward progress/fumble call that should of ended the game for the Chiefs.

        What did Norv Turner say:

“If this team comes next year and they get some things done to help them get better and are able to make the playoffs, I would hope it would be a surprise to all the Chargers fans, and they would be excited about it.”

Well, It’s pretty damn surprising that the Chargers are playing on Wildcard weekend, and Chargers fans are excited about it (While trying to justify two of the worst referee calls in the whole season getting there).

So Norv Turner was right. end of story.

        • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

Surprise in that sense sure. Surprise we made it without Norv in the first year that he was gone… NO SURPRISE THERE!
