2014 NFL Mock Draft: San Diego Chargers Select…

Time to look at another mock draft around the network. This time around we will be looking at the selection for the Chargers from NFL Mocks writer Erik Lambert.

Here is what Lambert did with the Chargers selection:

#19 – San Diego Chargers – Jace Amaro – TE – Texas Tech

Antonio Gates has been a model of consistency for the San Diego Chargers.  However, the Pro Bowler turns 34 next year.  The Bolts have to think about investing in the position and they have a terrific option in Jace Amaro who boasts size, speed and soft hands to become favorite target for Philip Rivers.

This definitely would be a pick out of left field for the Chargers. Amaro is a good player, but he is not in any position of need for the Chargers and there are better options for the Chargers to go after. The Chargers don’t need help at the tight end position at this point and the future at the position is already on the roster. Ladarius Green would be the starting tight end for the Chargers if Gates were to call it a career at the end of the year. Green is more than capable of contributing as a starter on this roster.

I read this article yesterday , I instantly thought he was crazy lol

You must be really dumb to think we are picking a TE. We need defense dude, plus we already have Ladarius Green. We’ll draft a OLB, NT, or CB. The last thingwe need is a QB and TE

  • Calman21

Don’t see it…in fact unless a TE falls way too far I don’t see us picking one up at all.

    • Voice1982

Not to mention many great TEs in recent years were picked in the second and third rounds. Look at Julius Thomas ,Hernandez, Gronkowski, and Grahm all picks in the second, third and fourth rounds. Like RBs , a great value TE can be had in later rounds. The first is where you have to find the impact pass rushers, dbs, or lineman

Agreed that TE isn’t a need I like the idea of getting Rivers another target in redzone. Maybe a reciever to pair with Keenan Allen. Mike Evans is a tall target that has done some good things at Texas A&M.

    Terrible pick.

This is a joke. And I’m sick of these mock drafts like the chargers are done. Were makin the god damn playoffs this year. Believe that shit.

Writer Erik Lambert must be living on the planet Stupid. He might as well have the Chargers picking a punter in the 1st RD. The main needs are OLB, NT, CB and a durable LT. I like Dunlap, but he is injured to much.

Tightend? Tightend?………. We don’t need a tight end, we have a damn good blocking TEs with Philips who stonewall the crap out Von Miller for that sweet TD by Mathews along with Hardwick and yes I believe Ladarius Green was in on that play and made a keyblock on the other side too and he’s a beast when it comes to catching and we will ride Antonio Gates until the marmalade fudging wheels fall off, 3 -5 years, he certainly has earned another couple of years with the resurgence he’s had this year!!

You’re a moron Erik Lambert from NFL dot com
