Chargers Week 16 Practice Participation Report: Thursday

The Chargers posted the Thursday practice participation report today. The list remains mostly the same as yesterday except for two things: Bront Bird and Ryan Mathews.

Bird went down in practice with an ankle injury. He is a staple on special teams, and it would force McCoy to go further into the roster on Sunday if he is unable to go, although the special teams unit is unlikely to suffer much without him.

The biggest thing though is the health of Ryan Mathews. He was limited in practice yesterday with a foot injury, but was a full participant today. The new found durability of Ryan Mathews is a huge reason for his resurgent season and the effectiveness of the Chargers offense. This is good news for Chargers fans. After today, I would assume that Mathews will be available on Sunday against the Raiders, the 9th best rush defense in the NFL.

who’s going to play in hardwick’s absence?

    • Conor Cahill

Hardwick hasn’t practiced on Wednesday or Thursday for a few weeks now. He should practice tomorrow and play on Sunday though. I believe it is neck soreness keeping him out of practice.

Just resting the vet. What else could he miss in practice?

There is difference between “hurt” an “injured”. Mathews is learning that toughness is playing through pain at 95% healthy.

Good news, but I get uneasy when looking at that long list that is the injury report. Hope it’s not a huge factor in the game.

It is not Nick Pardwick it is Hick Nardwick HA HA LOL been wanting to use that one for years !!!
