Morning Dump: Can the Chargers beat Denver?

Chargers‘ Te’o says he’s ignored flak over girlfriend hoax

The San Diego Chargers rookie linebacker said in his first conference call of the season Tuesday that he has yet to play a complete game in the NFL, but that’s because of his adjustment to the pros and not because he’s distracted in any way by the

Chargers Hashmarks: Can San Diego beat Denver?
NBC 7 San Diego
The Chargers will play the Denver Broncos Thursday night, just four days after dominating the New York Giants at Qualcomm Stadium. The matchup presents a number of challenges — short week, altitude and facing an 11-2 team, to name a few. “We are

If it would ensure them a playoff spot — a likelihood shrinking faster than their fans’ patience — the Chargers‘ ideal record this regular season would be 9-7. But if the Bolts were to miss the playoffs, if they were to be left out of the 12-team

Power Rankings: No. 17 San Diego Chargers
ESPN (blog)
With the team’s most impressive win of the season, the Chargers rose in the rankings, right? Wrong. ESPN’s panel of NFL experts actually dropped the Chargersdown a spot to No. 17 in this week’s Power Rankings. However, San Diego’s drop might have

    Of course we can…..

The real question is will we…
Its a funny shaped ball and sometimes it bounces weird. A big special teams play, a pick 6…. those things can change a game in a hurry. Get both and it could be devastating.

    Keys to the game….
    - Milk the clock on offense. Keep manning off the field.
    - Pressure the QB. Manning is a lot less effective when he has to move his feet
    - Score TDs when we are in the RedZone…. hold them to FGs

There’s no way SD beats Denver. SD can win the game if Denver makes a lot of mistakes like they did in the Colts game, or if there are injuries to key players in the middle of the game like there were against New England, but there’s no way the Chargers “beat” Denver.

The only team that beats Denver this year is Denver.

You could not have been more wrong.

      the Chargers BEAT the Broncos

        Totally.

Even without the dumb mistakes (offsides on a punt???), which is usually how they lose, it wouldn’t have changed this outcome. Denver is obviously a better team, but they sure didn’t show up for that game at all, while San Diego played their best game of the year, and Rivers played the best game of his career. Of course that game was SD’s Superbowl, while Denver had already clinched, so the outcome isn’t a huge surprise. It obviously meant a lot more to them.

The good side is that NE will most likely lose one, if not two of their last three, so Denver should keep home field in the playoffs. I just hope they can figure out how to fix that defense. All the rookies filling in for injured players is going to be their downfall this year. If they don’t fix it, Seattle will crush them in the SB.

          excuses

          • DXW

You must be new to reading.

First, why would I make excuses? I’m not on the team, and I don’t know what they talk about and plan in their meetings. I’m just some clown watching from his living room… just like you. All I can do is write my observations of the game down on internet message boards… just like you. And like I said, SD totally outplayed Denver on Thursday. Even if Denver hadn’t made those dumb mistakes, it wouldn’t have mattered this time because SD was on fire and playing their Superbowl, while Denver didn’t even bother to show up, which was completely obvious if you watched the game.

Whatever it was, they need to pull their heads out of their asses over the next two weeks and figure out how to get those rookies to play better on Defense, or it’ll be a short post season.

That’s easy, Yea San Diego can beat Denver, while we know what the broncos are capable of, the Chargers are not the same team in the first meeting. In Fact the biggest problem I stated the Chargers faced was overcoming a lot of “NEW”. This is that point in the season where coaches have seen enough, have a better idea of who the playmakers are, to make changes to the roster, and the “chemistry” is starting to build between players.
Between the bengals an giants game, they are starting to see they can compete with good teams, and now have a better understanding of the margin for error between wins an losses. They know the can’t “stop” manning, but they also know they can limit the damage, and give their QB a chance to win the game.
