Manti Te'o Starting to get Comfortable

Manti Te’o is getting better and better as the season progresses. Definitely a good sign for the defense next season and for the close of this year. He was struggling in his first few starts as a pro. He missed a lot of tackles and had trouble getting off of blocks. He is getting better. He almost had his first pick of the season against Eli Manning last week and he has made a number of plays on the field. It is nice to see him get a little more comfortable on defense.

Is it a coincidence that his two best games have come with Sean Lissemore used primarily as the team’s nose tackle?

Te’o has definitely stepped up and should continue to get better on defense. He is around the football often and is making the play when he gets to the football. There were so many times earlier in the year that he would get to the football, but miss the play. He is getting better.

I am expecting him to get that first interception soon. I will predict it to happen on Thursday against Peyton.

Nice post. Remember when people were saying he was a bust after his 2nd game of the season? Give the dude a chance to get on the same level as everyone else who actually went through preseason and completed training camp and it turns out he’s dramatically improved.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

He didn’t play up to that point so couldn’t be a bust at that point.

his 2nd game of the season

My fault, it was after the Miami game. His 7th game.

  • Gunnar Martin

The fact that Lissemore was the nose tackle in his two best games this year speaks volumes.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

It does, He had Nix and Tuit at ND both are better then Cam any day of the week. Put better guys infront of him and watch him thrive.

      • Gunnar Martin

That’s exactly the reason why I think it’s such a great idea to get Nix in the draft. Te’o produces with Louis out there in front of him.

  • Sergio Quintero

He does look less tentative, and reacting to plays instead of waiting for the play to happen without aggression.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Also would like to see him in there on 3rd downs, why not at this point? Taking him out on the downs he could possibly make the most plays is kinda strange. He’s getting better at pass coverage and that was his staple at ND, should be given alot more chances to prove he should be in there.
