Time for another NFL Mock Draft for the San Diego Chargers. We have all kinds of needs for the team and the secondary will be at the top of the list.

Here is the selection that the guys over at FanSided chose for the Chargers this time around:

14. San Diego Chargers: Darqueze Dennard, CB, Michigan State

Dennard is arguably the top cover corner in the entire draft, and that fills a huge hole for the Chargers, who have had poor play from their corners all year. Dennard has been a three-year starter for the Spartans and has been consistently productive and improving.

Dennard would be a huge upgrade int he secondary for the Chargers. We were so close in this mock to getting Khalil Mack. There is no way that I would pass on Mack if he falls down to the Chargers. He would help the pass rush a ton.

Dennard would be a nice selection for the Chargers. I always am hesitant with selecting corners in the first round. They have a HIGH BUST rate up there.

Agree if Mack is there you have to take him in a deep corner draft, but if Clowney, Barr, Mack are gone then it settles into taking Nix, best CB, Vic Beasley.

  • Derek

Him Gilbert, or Louis nix in that order. True they have a high bust rate but we can’t afford Patrick Peterson. I say we cut cam, try to get a serviceable nt in fa for cheap and draft the best nt available in the 2nd round. This giants game melvin shows we have a pass rusher or 2 and I’m confident he will make tourek and kaiser better. We need a good cb way more than a pass rusher with freeny mending and mounton who I predict will have a James Harrison effect. Got a feeling if English will be back if we match whatever deal he gets in fa and he’s good depth

Mack would be cool, Dennard would be cool, there are so many ways to go that I really can’t point the finger at just one guy. I’d be happy with all sorts of these beasts in the 1st. They are saying this draft is loaded with skill guys, can’t wait to see who will be a Bolt.

damn didn’t realize Mack has 3 Int’s too, wow a pass rusher with coverage skills.

  • Derek

In a passing league a outside cb that is serviceable is way more valuable and harder to come by than a pass rusher. Look at the bears vs cowboys. The cowboys cbs are playing their weaknesses for one. Carr and claborine are man cover cbs and their safety is serviceable at best. So ware can be 500% but even when the Wrs were covered they were open. Making him irrelevant. On the other end the bears who have to better corners and are basically playing out of lovies playbook keep the boys In check with aging peppers and draft bust Shea mcellian. Cb’s this yr aren’t worth a 1st round pick but we can’t afford to pass up on them.

    JASON VERRETT!!!

Verrett for sure..dennard is not worth a mid round 1st round pick..just saying..1st round cb..2nd round OT..3rd round OLB

Selecting a CB in the 1st is super sketchy , but I would be happy with any player to boost our D .
