Philip Rivers Ranks As Number 2 Quarterback This Season

Gregg Rosenthal on NFL.com ranked the top quarterbacks in the league and guess who is sitting behind Peyton Manning at the number 2 spot on the list? Philip Rivers! How in the world did he get all that respect back? It is a bit surprising because Chargers players never get that type of respect from the big networks… at least not recently.

Philip Rivers has been having a solid season. One of his best seasons, but he still is looking for those wins. Here are the top 5 players on Rosenthal’s list:

1. Peyton Manning
2. Philip Rivers
3. Drew Brees
4. Russell Wilson
5. Aaron Rodgers (in absentia)

Seeing Aaron Rodgers on the list reminds me how bad this team could look if Philip had to sit on the sideline with an injury. We would be hurting in a bad, bad, bad way. I want to believe that Brad Sorensen or Charlie Whitehurst can perform better than Matt Flynn or Scott Tolzien, but I seriously doubt that. Plus we don’t even have a winning record with the number 2 quarterback in the league!

Philip Rivers has been on point and we need him to play even better to win games. We need him to be Superman in these final 4 games and we will still need some help to get to the playoffs. If he plays like Superman though… ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!
