Philip Rivers Ranks As Number 2 Quarterback This Season

Gregg Rosenthal on ranked the top quarterbacks in the league and guess who is sitting behind Peyton Manning at the number 2 spot on the list? Philip Rivers! How in the world did he get all that respect back? It is a bit surprising because Chargers players never get that type of respect from the big networks… at least not recently.

Philip Rivers has been having a solid season. One of his best seasons, but he still is looking for those wins. Here are the top 5 players on Rosenthal’s list:

1. Peyton Manning
2. Philip Rivers
3. Drew Brees
4. Russell Wilson
5. Aaron Rodgers (in absentia)

Seeing Aaron Rodgers on the list reminds me how bad this team could look if Philip had to sit on the sideline with an injury. We would be hurting in a bad, bad, bad way. I want to believe that Brad Sorensen or Charlie Whitehurst can perform better than Matt Flynn or Scott Tolzien, but I seriously doubt that. Plus we don’t even have a winning record with the number 2 quarterback in the league!

Philip Rivers has been on point and we need him to play even better to win games. We need him to be Superman in these final 4 games and we will still need some help to get to the playoffs. If he plays like Superman though… ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN!

You mean Joe R; I am always in it until the last game, even during that Mike Riley year of 1-15.

        Yeah… me too…

Hey… gonna be hosting a tailgate session at tomorrow’s game. You gonna stop by for a bit?

I will be watching from my favorite seat; the recliner. Have fun, you don’t need some old fart (thirty years your senior) rummaging around in your cooler looking for his favorite bruskie.

          • Peter Thompson

Quite the contrary. I was hoping you would Show us youngsters how a 50+ year fan rolls. Maybe next time ; )

  • arnie

Great! Now we will have never have a better time to trade him! We can never get anywhere with this fool! So let’s hope Telesco finds a fool quick enough to bite, before they discover the truth! So we can move up in the draft and get more picks!
    Bwhahahahahah! (evil laugh)

You have literally lost your mind.

Arnie has been smoking something. Then we can be on the proverbial search once again for a franchise QB. We don’t even realize when we have good players. We get rid of them. I take that back about arnie smoking something. He has AJ Smith itis—when a player is good, get rid of him. and replace with less talent.

Yeah, we should get rid of Rivers so we can help out our great defense which played so well against the Bengals. Great at those blown coverages!

A little early on that note but in two years when Rivers has nine children perhaps pull the trigger before he crumbles to the turf with a career ending injury.
      * The list is missing the better players that should be ahead of him Brady & Brees; or
      Brees and Brady.

      • Stefanie Smith

Completion percentage and QB rating this year–Rivers is higher. I know we cannot believe it, but yes, the Chargers do have a decent QB.

        • 1961 Fan

Better than decent, just not mobile, and a poor quality team (defense) in a supporting role.

    • arnie

LOL See i knew that would light a wild fire. Calm down, ya’ll should know me by now. If any of this sounded ridiculous to you it should, because that’s all I hear when Rivers throws an INT or, they lose a game. The only reason they have 5 wins IS RIVERS. The reason they weren’t blown out in the 7 loses IS RIVERS. Some times you can’t tell people their crazy or, don’t know what their talking about. Some times they have to see it.
Phillip was not the problem. Trading him, for any reason, is not the solution.

” CLIP BOARD JESUS TIME” that is a stupid idea.
