Ryan Mathews Trusted More On Short Yardage Situations

The San Diego Chargers are learning new things with every week. They started getting Ladarius Green more plays and that has paid off with his production on the field.  They also started getting the ball to Ryan Mathews on short yardage situations and that paid off big against the Kansas City Chiefs. They gave him the ball on 4th and inches, 3rd and 1, goal line situations and he came away with first downs or the score every single time.

Ryan Mathews is a tough runner between the tackles and he rarely loses yards on his carries. The dive over the pile in the end zone is something that he can do all the time. I just wish that they had tried it once against the Washington Redskins.

They even gave him more opportunities in the red zone. They are learning more and more how to use Ryan Mathews to their advantage and it could mean more points on the scoreboard for the rest of the year. We need all the points that we can get with our defense playing like crap.

Keep pounding Ryan.

Any word on his hammy? Danny is awesome and all, but I don’t trust Ronnie Brown to do much more than get tackled a yard behind the line. RM/Danny >>>>> Danny/Ronnie.

I want to keep Mathews on this roster in the future, but they do need to carry a much better backup RB than Ronnie Brown, that position is a young man’s game, and Brown has zero explosion left in his legs.

Don’t the chargers have a RB in the practice squad?, a kid named Maysonnet they could try instead of Brown.

they have kerwynn williams on the practice squad. not sure he is the answer either though. he is small and really doesnt have the moves in the open field. we have to get someone next season. there has to be someone that is stashed on some team’s practice squad that we could pluck.

You are right, Maysonet got cut in October and K.Williams is the only RB left in P.S., I still have major question surrounding Brown, as the drop in production is massive with him in the game, I know there has to be major blocking question with Williams, but I still would like to see what the kid brings to the table.

yea. Williams seems like more a change of pace and not the backup for Ryan. Sadly, nobody on the roster fits that spot for Ryan. We need someone to fill that role for us and all we have is Brown.

I guess Fozzy wasn’t that expendable?
