Melvin Ingram Will Return To Practice on Wednesday

The San Diego Chargers are going to get a little boost in their pass rush this week with the return of Melvin Ingram. Ingram will be back on the practice field on Wednesday and will be working to get back on the field for the team later in the year. His status for the rest of the season still will be up in the air. The team will take it day-to-day to see if he has the ability to make a return and will see if e can make an impact for the team on defense. It still is a possibility that they place him on the IR list.

The Chargers are in desperate need for some pass rush help. We have used Tourek Williams and Thomas Keiser used on the edges the last couple of games. Jarret Johnson was unable to play a lot over the weekend and Reggie Walker had to be used off of the edge on Sunday. If this is going to set back Melvin Ingram at all in the future, then the team should just look to bring him back next year.

Even if he only gets to play the last couple games that might be good for him to get some practice in. Anybody think if we go 4-12 that we would have a shot at Anthony Barr? Imagine that combo with Freeney sprinkled in, we would still need at NT and Corners but the Pass rush would be crazy good.

    • Ernie Padaon

      that would be awesome

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I just watched Barr’s 2012 highlight video, Man that is exactly what our team is lacking a guy that is fast as hell and he put on 12lbs coming off the edge creating serious havoc for Qb’s, put Ingram on the other side with Luiget and Freeney plus some sort of NT and suddenly I bet Te’o starts looking better and better, secondary starts getting picks and easier coverage and we are money. Clowney would be equally awesome I just don’t think we are dropping under #5. I think the Bucs could go on a hot streak and pass us but the Vkikings/Jags/Texans/Falcons almost have those spots shored up, lets hope they make a run on QB’s in the draft or LT’s like last year and we are in pass rush heaven!

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Also I know this doesn’t matter at all but isn’t Clowney a 4-3 DE? If he was available when we pick might be as good of reason as any to make the switch.

          • Ernie Padaon

            right! done and done

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

            Imagine this group of 7

            Freeney – Liegut – Reyes – Clowney
            Ingram Te’o JJ

          • Ernie Padaon

it would be sooooo sick. wow! even replace it with Barr on there. it seems so much better to move to a 4-3

          • kris

Im smiling just thinking about it! Would be soooo bad ass!

      • John Bauer

Yes another good draft next spring ! ! !

    • Ernie Padaon

oh my goodness… it would be so great. what if people pass on clowney also? it could happen!

  • arnie

I still remember the impact Shawne Merriman had on the defense when he stepped onto the field. It was mediocre then like it is now. Super Melvin show me what you got.

    • Tazzster

Good players make everyone around them better.

Now if we can draft a couple of good players that can make an instant impact next year, then maybe….

  • Gunnar Martin

  • Peter Thompson

    Please, and thank you.

  • chargers760

If the let Donald butler walk Ernie do you think the chargers should draft cjmMosley from Alabama

  • Derek

Ease him in with reps as a lb playing coverage the dolphins ended our season no need to be the best team not goin to the playoffs leave that to the cowboys

    • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

Lol did they tho? I thought we still had a chance

      • Derek

Even if we do get to the playoffs after this loss do u really think this team is going all the way??? I don’t believe the draft especially when nobody out the incoming class is spectacular helps middling teams like first round knockouts . Look at the drafts of last yrs playoff teams colts Werner a nobody, broncos dt 4th string,

        • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

Theirs good mojo and bad mojo, but we could go all the way

        • Derek

Typing on my phone but was gonna add the cowboys pic and consider that it was a low demand and could have been addressed free agency

  • diomar espinal

Im sorry guys but the team needs a NT badly. If TT could find a way to get his hands on the guy from ND it would be huge to our defense. Our whole front is trash and it directly relates to the struggles of cam thomas. If we arent able to come up with a real NT in the draft or free agency then maybe we should just switch to A 4-3.

    • Ernie Padaon

So agree with that. Without the proper players, I don’t know why we even stick with it

    • Ambitoos

What are you sorry for. Your right.

    • yeez

Byron jerideu is a beast, hell be back next year

      • diomar espinal

Did he get injured or end up on the practice squad?

  • Bolthead17

    Fire Pagano please

  • Ambitoos

He’s not going to be 100% until next year. It’s great he’s trying but it’s going to take awhile.

  • Trey P

Yall sleep on keisler too he is a must stay for depth

    • Ernie Padaon

      Not a

      • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

He gets to the QB tho, his name is Keiser Glyder

    • Ernie Padaon

No disrespect to Keiser, he is more depth though.

    • Tyreece Kaete Sr.

Yup he pretty nice, Keiser Glider

  • Trey P

And imagine a 4-3 with freeney and lugiet as DEs.. Cam and someone else as nt..manti melvin and jj as linebackers I too much about.butler sorry

  • C.Steele

I hope he isn’t rushed back on a lost season and re-injures the knee. But, the thought of Him, Freeny, and (Dare I say) Kiesr getting after opposing QBs next year makes me happy!

  • 1961 Fan

Stay out Melvin, come back next year at full strength.
