Chargers Wednesday Practice Report

Mike Remmers was back on the practice field for the Chargers. It was his first time on the field since Week 7. He had been on the sideline with an ankle injury. He could see some significant time if he were able to make his return this week against the Miami Dolphins.

Donald Butler was on the practice field today after getting back on the playing field. It looks like he will be ready to go for the second straight game.

LeRon McClain, Eddie Royal, Nick  Hardwick, King Dunlap and Jarret Johnson all were on the sideline today though and not working. Our offensive line is beat up. Dunlap might not be available for the game because of a neck strain. Hardwick is out because of a stinger. Royal is still out with the toe injury, but he likely will sit out in practice but get on the field for game action. McClain left the game last week in a walking boot and might be out for some time.

If Mcclains out for awhile do we still have C. Gronk on the practice squad?
Good to hear Remmers is out their playing, also really good to hear Dunlap didn’t have a concussion. We should be ok as long as Hardwick comes back, Orhenburger is a pretty lousy center.

Hardwick would be a huge blow if he isn’t able to suit up this weekend. He is the reason that our make-shift O-line has played surprisingly decent this year. Once he went out against Denver, the pressure really started to mount on PR.
We need to get JJ back healthy, he has been a surprise pass rusher as he is normally known for being a stout run defender with minimal pass rush ability. I have loved what I’ve seen from him when he’s been on the field, and it would be nice to at least have JJ, Butler and Te’o on the field at the same time for once.
As much as I like McClain, we simply just don’t use him enough. He is a mauler and I don’t quite understand why we don’t run Mathews behind him, Clary and Fluker (maybe, say in goal-line situations!). It would be a big loss if he can’t suit up for a few weeks, but one that I think we can overcome due to his lack of use. Regardless of who’s playing this week, we HAVE to beat Miami. I think it’s a huge plus that the game was oved to 4pm Eastern, but if we want to keep our SLIM playoff chances alive we have to come away with a win.

Scrolled down before reading… do I want to read this? SMH… Here we go… I’m going in…

Well…. thank God Butler is practicing, because he noticeably made a difference on defense. Looks like Remmers must have heard Arnie. Hardwick was the only lineman NOT to go down to this point, so I am bummed about that. I wonder if he’ll be back next year? I have a gut feeling he won’t, and he will be a BAD ASS (and my continued hero) if he DOES come back! Dunlap I expected, but glad it’s being called a “neck strain” for his sake, and possibly ours. Hope having McClain “out”, and Remmers “in” won’t hurt the running game too much. What I DO like is that Mathews, and Rinehart are not on this list.

Wonder if Fluker will start at LT and Clary at RT instead of just having Remmers going in at LT. Personally, I’d rather have DJ there. I don’t trust Remmers at all, at least not yet.

  • Why O Why

We should drop McCClain. Free up a roster spot. I thought we should have kept Fozzie over McClain. We need help at linebacker and in the defensive backfield… Oline needs help too but the “next man up” seems to be working with that part of the team.

Can’t drop till he healthy or they have to go IR with him.
