What Are The Chargers Going To Do At Left Tackle Now?

King Dunlap had to leave the game again with possibly his third concussion of the year or he had a neck injury, either way, Dunlap has not been reliable to stay on the football field. The Chargers next guy on the depth chart would be Mike Remmers, but is he a better option over D.J. Fluker? Fluker has kicked over to the left side a couple of times already this season. He has been alright on the left side of the line, but he has had his struggles over there. He still may be the best option if Dunlap has to miss any time.

Who knows how much time Dunlap will have to miss though. If this is indeed his third concussion of the season, that issue doesn’t seem to be leaving any time soon and he has to take some time off. The offensive line’s depth is getting tested over and over this year. The Chargers will have to figure something out.

Jared Gaither?

I know exactly how we fix this:

Sign Incognito when he gets his release and have him call and be in charge of Jerod Gaither lol, perfect scenario. Incognito can harass his manhood all day long and light a fire under his ass and push/bully him into playing again……then we got a Guard and a LT…….Oh ya!

  • afel120

Idk if you guys agree but ed reed got released or is going too and I would think hes a low risk dude we only have to pay him about 500, 000 bcuz texans paid majority of it and they released him bcuz he was complaining about the defense when they lost to the cardinals, but I for one think it would be nice to have him

    • tubbs45

Then have two free safeties? I’d sign Kerry Rhodes and put gilcrest back a Corner…

    • arnie

Pass. Reed’s best days are behind him, and he was invisible on the field. For all his complaining about the defense, remember he was on it. If didn’t like it he should have done something about it. he couldn’t.

  • Mark Viguri

Guess Telesco did draft a starting left tackle with #1 pick, Fluker is the best option by far.

  • Sergio Quintero

They might be forced to draft a LT in the first 2 rounds in 2014, even though Dunlap has played well it seems they can’t trust him to be on the field, shame.

Seems like the chargers better open up the check book for a corner in free agency (a proven, expensive one), and use their first rounder on a LT.

    • arnie

I can see that Sergio, however don’t count Harris out yet. He proved he was solid as the swing tackle. I think the Charger will carry a 9 man rotation and draft high for CB’s, the FA CB doesn’t seem to be working out, they were out of the market due to salary cap issues, that may continue next season. There ain’t no proven talent they are all gambles, some less of a gamble than others. Until you get them on the field you never know.

      • Calman21

I think Harris is gonna be our permanent back-up. It will be interesting to see what they do in FA and the draft this year. Considering TT likes to go BPA we may have some serious FA needs to address.

        • boltsSBowl1day!!!

I agree with you and crazy part is BPA will be QB

          • Calman21

The BPA at the first or second pick maybe, but there are a lot of good players and no one is really sure how they will pan out. This time last year there were very few people predicting two tackles taken right off the bat. It also depends on how the FO ranks these guys. We might see a QB as the BPA, but positionally a CB or LB or G might be the BPA.

Harris was doing really good before he went Down. what Dunlap needs is rest. for maybe 3-4 weeks minium. and see where’s he’s at after. it maybe rotate Fluker and Becton just for the remainder of season

  • Brandon Rios

King Dunlap is the real life Reggie Ray.

  • arnie

Oh Ernie, concussions don’t go away, only the symptoms. This doesn’t make Dunlap unreliable, it just make the Chargers desperate. The truth is, it’s easy to get frustrated and label him ” injury prone” but the facts are everyone deals with concussions differently and the severity of them varies. The reality Harris should be out there, until King was 100%. every time he takes a blow to the head the symptoms will flare up. Unfortunately Harris is out for the year so they had to take their chances with King and they are damaging a young mans career, and a good one too, to play in the league and protect Rivers. That’s what happen when you roll with 7 instead of 9. They needed the help in the DB department, because Jammer was not option.
My thoughts, tell Remmers to get off his butt, tape that ankle, get a shot and play.

I really dont like the option too much but what is Brandyn Dombrowski up to these days? Joe D’Alessandris can hopefully put a new spin on an old tire.

I just wish we could get through a damn game without losing anyone! We are losing starters, backups and their backups.
