Chargers STILL Are In The Playoff Hunt

I know a ton of you don’t even want to think about the playoffs. I have already seen a few of you say that we should tank the rest of the season, because we are not going anywhere. After all the smoke and dust from yesterday, the Chargers are still in the hunt for a playoff spot.

The Titans lost to the Jacksonville Jaguars yesterday, so they didn’t gain any ground on the playoffs. We all are still looking at the New York Jets as the top spot for the playoffs. The Miami Dolphins play tonight and they need a win to keep pace with the Jets and for some reason I think Tampa will get their first win of the year tonight.

It is not time to lose hope just yet. Our schedule is tough, but I still believe that we can make a run. There was a solid half in which the Chargers offense slowed down the Broncos, There was an awakening that the Chargers can run the ball for 1-yard first downs or touchdowns.

There is no reason to be in the playoffs and be 1 and done. Our defensive coordinator sucks along with Cox. Our play calling looks like a half-assed norv team.

    • Jordan

I agree, I’m looking forward to next seasons draft and new defensive coordinator, maybe well have a shot.

Hold up yall trippin look at the last three superbowl champs and tell me if they were wild cards 9-7..10-6 teams until we lose that 8th game. We aint nowhere near done. We will lose one mor game and thats Denver and we will be 10-6

      • Ernie Padaon

Trey and I are hanging tight on this one. Still a long way to go.

        • Gunnar Martin

I’m with y’all!! Still bleeding blue and gold.

      • tubbs45

I hope we don’t break the first home Eagles game streak: last 4 have won the Super Bowl! I think we owe it to the NFL to keep it rolling!

    • Derek

I think our defensive coordinator did well considering what he’s working with. Cox is still getting his shit together, starting a nt that would be a back up on other teams, the refs preaching the broncos can do no wrong (no calls against them the whole game! Especially that offsides by the tight end). This defense has only been to our detriment twice that I can recall (eagles, raiders) and even then I question if it was bad coaching or poor execution by players. With desean it’s just a matter of time before u get burned by his speed, u just hope to give the linemen enough time. And I credit wright for being able to do that. But watching cox I just see bad footwork. Addae is still learning cam just isn’t a starter

Chargers held Denver to their lowest point total of the season.

If you are looking to point a finger at someone, this has to go to the red-zone offense.

        • rickochey

but we still lost… Thats like saying, “I stepped in dog do but at least it wasn;t the fresh pile.”

    • tubbs45

I think pagano is a victim of having little talent or just the wrong players. It is crazy that we keep running soft coverages, but look what happens in man-coverage, JT/3rd DT touch downs.

      • Tazzster

        Our secondary is a mess.

        We can’t cover man-to-man.

  • Trey P

Did you see Sharrece right said that he was mire effective in the game when they ran man!! He feels he cab shut Thomas down.. I hope coaches pay attententiin to this and film.. Our zone never works LOL..

    • Ernie Padaon

      our zone defense is stupid.

  • Joel Ayala

I’m holing faith. but realisticly know we’ve lost really good pieces on O and D. but we can play with the best of them. Pags is on our hot seat to us fans for sure. Imo.

  • Tim Schniz

GET REAL. This is a 7 to 8 win team at best. They are who they are at 4-5. Grades: Offense B, Defense D, Special Teams C. They simply don’t have enough good players, especially on defense. Every team deals with injuries – boo hoo. TT will decide on the coaching change(s) if any, but they need PLAYERS. Another good draft or two and maybe we get a small window before Rivers goes to the glue factory. Tanking is just a stupid discussion, they won’t do that. No one in their right mind would objectively look at this team and bet they will go 5-2 the rest of the way. And even that likely would not make the playoffs.

    • Stuart Adkins

Opinions are like assholes: every asshole has one. LMAO!! GO BOLTS!!!

  • Ks

Insert Jim Mora’s “Playoffs?” rant here

  • kris

Ugh, Playoffs? Don’t think so. Looking forward to the draft, nuff said. Oh and the Radier game because no matter what beating them feels good.

  • ChargerGirl Cindi

While I will agree that we are still mathematically on the playoff bubble, I am not at all happy with what is happening on the field. I keep starting and rewording a post to basically say WTF?

  • davacho

“The whole season is right there in front of us. If you guys on the outside think the season is done then don’t come talk to me because we still have everything there. ” -Eric Freaking Weddle

    • ChargerGirl Cindi

He is the only person I am not mad at today!

  • tubbs45

While my initial reaction to going to the playoff is fear of failure so why suffer the humiliation. But damn it, if you don’t atleast make it you’ll never know. As much as I think our corner back suck, we held Denver to their lowest point total of the season. If our offense can manage to keep pace I truely believe we have a good shot to make a run!

After everyone bitching about not making the playoffs for three year, grow a pair people and at least be a little optimistic!

  • joerockt

Dolphins play the Bucs tonight. Ugh. This has got to be one of the worst years for prime time matchups/games. I haven’t watched much SNF, MNF or TNF.

  • Alter Ego

Seven games still to go – I still believe.
We did beat the Eagles in their home opener – recent history projects us to be the next SB champ.
    Keep the faith.

    • Ernie Padaon

    • Stuart Adkins

Not only Eagles home opener, but losing to Redskins in OT is something Ravens did last year. If we got nothin’ else, we’ve got superstition/voodoo, crazy football lore!!!

  • arnie

    So. You’re sayin’ there’s a chance???

  • Stuart Adkins

Love your attitude Ernie. But I’ve noticed one thing which I call ours but I’m sure isn’t: You really gotta love your Chargers to hate em as much our fans do. :(

    • Ernie Padaon

Ha. I hear you on that.
