Derek Cox Getting Starting Reps In Practice

Derek Cox was benched on Sunday for his poor play, but when practice started up again for the Chargers the following week, he was back at corner taking the reps as the starter.

So you are telling me the 15 minutes that he was on the sideline was enough of a punishment for playing poorly for the first 8 games of the season?

Johnny Patrick came in and took the reps as the starter for Cox while he was benched. Hopefully Cox can bounce back. We need him to play at a high level for the defense.

We all are tired of him getting burned by the defense over and over and over…. AND OVER AGAIN! Peyton Manning is going to look over in his direction a few times this weekend and every time he decides to throw the ball out his way, Chargers fans will be holding their breath hoping that the receiver drops the ball or hoping Peyton overthrew it.

Hoping Cox can get his act straight.

I concur. However, maybe it was more like they looked who was behind him, who was coming to town and deiced, ” on second thought, Cox your starting…” good call Pags.

That is exactly what I was going to say, he’s the best of the worst. Wright got equally burned but you can’t take every CB out when the bench guys are even worse. We need to Draft at least 2 CB’s next year, thank God for Stevie Williams or we might have had to draft 3 or 4 lol.

I forgot about Williams. He tore his pictorial of bicep muscle?

        • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I don’t remember I think it was triceps?

No doubt! I think the fact that Wright is still pretty early in his career and making peanuts compared to Cox he gets more leeway, and you send a message from top (High priced FA acquisition) down not bottom up! 2nd round pick is on pace to be a CB, and maybe a late rounder 5 or 6. #GoBolts!

Because of how much better Jarrett Johnson looked his second yr here I still have faith in cox….. Also we have 20 mill invested and no corner on the roster that can cover just as good or better. I hope weddle lets him know the time for excuses is over. We got a half decent nt and a 3rd 4th string and a rookie (English, kaiser, tourek) busting their ass to make the qb get rid of the ball in 3-4 seconds. You have to do a better job of covering your man or handing him off to the 1st yr ss

You have a good point. Cox is still learning a new scheme. I guess. but he needs to pick it up pronto. cuz they’re gonna getting Hella tested this weekend. down with the Donks

  • Aaron Johnson

Let our guys play press man or deploy a 3-4 exclusive look this week and let our LB’s do most of the work. LB seems to be the strength of our defense this year (which isnt saying much) but all our guys at LB and OLB proved they can be effective in the rotation.

    “cox”
    says it all

  • Cgoodness13

I think his main problem is his footwork, he seems to stumble a lot

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I love that picture, not only did he miss the tackle but he made sure Weddle couldn’t make it either.
