D.J. Fluker Named Rookie Of The Week

San Diego Chargers RT D.J. Fluker was named rookie of the week for his performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Fluker was forced to play on the left side of the line after a couple of injuries to other players on the roster and he helped the offense move the chains in the running game and the passing game.

The Chargers were able to run the ball with Ryan Mathews. Mathews picked up his second 100+ yard performance in a row during the day. This is the second rookie of the week award that we have taken this season. Fluker won this award this week and Keenan Allen won the award earlier this season.

Tom Telesco’s drafts have looked pretty good based off of these awards lately. Now we will have to wait till Manti Te’o to pull down the award for his performance. Hopefully he can get that award against the Denver Broncos in a couple of weeks.

Congrats to D.J. for filling in on the left side and getting the rookie of the week award.

It was against the Jags, but he was certainly awesome!

DJ Fluker is Football at it’s finest!

I tried my ass off to get a few people to pump out some votes for him, the other guys that were nominated didn’t really have that great of numbers so I knew he had a chance. I voted for him around 500 times, my wife did 400, her sis 400, sis husband 500 and a few people on other sites saying they did 100′s at a time. This is freakin awesome, I’m really glad he won!

      I voted once… Doh!!!!

      • joerockt

You, sir, are a TWAT! lol.

        • Daryl Peek

          LOL

I can’t even count how many I got in. I’m hoping for the same results for RM24, voted about a million times for him also.

I was reading another website and they said Fluker was a slow footed performer and should be playing the Right side where he belongs, as soon as the injured Left side players return. Perhaps the Jaguars were the best team to “test” the switch on!

    • Gunnar Martin

Holy smack, you are one dedicated dude. I voted seventy times and couldn’t go any longer lol

    • joerockt

Damn, I thought I was dedicated lol.

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

I spread them out over 4 days lol, plus I have a crap load of down time at my office.

  • 619chargers4life

i dont really follow these awards unless the Chargers are involved so i cant remember the last time a rookie OT won this award. hell of a job he is doing upfront, maybe we can bring in Cyrus for the left side of our line in this years draft and have two Alabama Monsters on our line.

    • Gunnar Martin

Not really impressed by Kouandjio this year, though. I guess the expectations for him were just too high in the first place. He’s got pretty slow feet, and hasn’t done very well. Honestly, I just hope the King can earn the spot full time, maybe even become our LT for the foreseeable future. And stop getting concussions.

      • 619chargers4life

I feel you , and I want king to do what he is paid to do as well but I got this feeling that king is going down a road of McNeill , we may need to put a clause in his contract . I just don’t trust his head is going to make it , kind of like McNeill’s neck.

        • boltingindiego

kings got 1 more year on his current deal. no need for a clause.

          • JoseSD

i thought it was a 4 year deal for Dunlap, maybe not

          • boltingindiego

nope 2 year deal. at 1st i thought we signed to a 1 year deal.

  • Daryl Peek

Man if we could only see what Steve Williams could be doing? Great first draft!!

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

You said a mouthful right there! Next year, man… next year.

      • 1961 Fan

What is the story Peter, have you already given up on this season? I thought if anyone it would be you saying the Bolts have a chance right up to the last game. You young squirts have time, me – I want it now!

        • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Absolutely not, and you are right about what you thought about me. Until the last game… I wss talking about seeing Steve Williams next year. I want to win now too. Who doesn’t?

  • Gunnar Martin

Not bad TT. Not bad at all.

  • joerockt

Woohoo! I knew voting 100+ times would pay off lol. Congrats DJ!

  • Thomas

Guess my shitload of votes helped lol hell yea DJ!!

  • gene

I love me some Fluker. His full body slam of the rusher in the Oakland game was a total team attitude changer. I have been waiting for something like that for the past three years. If I were a lineman and my QB had been taking a beating like the line allow Philip to take the past few years I would have surly been thrown out of a game by taking it out on the first rusher i could lay my hands on. Yea i’m thrown out but their still trying to pry that rushers head out of the ear-hole in his helmet. Thanks Fluker for making it known that you touch our QB, you got a butt-wipping coming.

  • tubbs45

Nice work FLUKER!! He has been a great draft pick. best number 1 the bolts have had in a while!! I voted about 150 times while I was bored at a meeting… Bolt Up!

  • asd

Why didn’t you post the gif? This would’ve been the best time to do it LOL

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

      Hahaha… Thought about t after I hit publish! :)

  • Bill Nichols

Voted during both World Series games, had to have been 4 – 5 hours worth of straight voting for the beast Fluker!! Wasn’t sure if I helped Keenan (last week) or not, but now I am convinced. Come on people, we need to start voting for our bolts in the Pro Bowl, you know we deserve way more players than last year for god sake. Bolt Up!!
