…and the nominations for awards just keeps on coming. We must have had a good week and that makes going into the BYE week a little nicer. Ryan Mathews has been nominated for the FedEx Ground Player of the Week and now D.J. Fluker has been nominated for the Rookie of the Week. Keenan Allen won the award last week and now the 1st round draft pick has been nominated for it this week. Where you at Manti?

Fluker deserves the recognition this week with his performance against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He helped protect Philip Rivers in the passing game and helped spring open holes in the running game… and he did all that playing a position that he normally doesn’t play. He had to switch to the left side of the line in the early parts of the game and he still held his own.

He was needed to adjust to a position that he has not played regularly since high school. He practiced it some during training camp, but this was the real thing and he worked it out and helped lead the team to victory.

Flukers heart and work ethic is one of the best I’ve seen on all levels of football, he should most def be a captain for this team once Rivers or Hardwick are gone, you could tell as soon as he got drafted he was going to be a leader, the guy deserves this reward.

Agreed… True leader on the field and on the line.

So I heard Acee this morning on Hacksaw saying that this was the worst game he saw of DJ Fluker. I mean, seriously, Acee is the King of All Douchebags. Too bad Leaf didn’t knock his teeth down his throat back in the day. DJ played rock solid, AS APPARENT.

    Congrats DJ!

    • Lee

well…if he’s right then thats really good news haha

    • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Acee can suck it! Per his usual routine.

    • Thomas

Acee is maybe the worst reporter ever.. I don’t think I’ve seen a interview with him and micheal where doesn’t totally Inturupt him mid sentence.. Flat out tool.. I also love hearing reporters talk about football when all they are is analysts and haven’t played 1 down.. So funny to me !!

      • joerockt

        I tweeted him eariler:

@UTKevinAcee Did I hear right this morning that u thought Fluker had his worst game? Yea, he’s nominated for ROTW, you tool.

        He tweeted back:

Did you listen to context of what I said? Evidently not. Played excellent for moving to LT. But he had worst game since opener.

        I responded:

You’re out of your mind. You continue to ride that no credibility train, I’ll be over here putting in votes for Fluker.

Guy is a joke. He’s constantly wrong on analysis and writes articles based upon which way the wind is blowing.

        • Thomas

Haha!! He needs to be called out in his bullshit.. Amazes me
          How he is employed anywhere

    • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

That’s why I prefer BoltBeat vs. Acee, Canepa & the rest of the schills over there. @ UT…Keep up the great work BoltBeat Staff! Go Chargers!!!!

      • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

        thank you… definitely appreciate it

  • Julien Bélair

Damn, on stats alone Fluker should win. I mean 158 Rushing yards, 285 Passing yards and 3 total TDs? That shit is insane.

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Fluker is the man, I kinda want Bama’s other linemen now.

    • joerockt

Geez, can you imagine Warmack and Fluker on the same side.

      • Thomas

The way bamas coaching is and how they perform.. I’d be snagging all the bama players

        • joerockt

Yea that’s one thing I hated about AJ and drafting players from powerhouses like N. Illinois. Not that its THE determining factor, but you had C. Mathews from SC who was more apt to be a better pass rusher cutting his teeth in a stronger conference.

    • Thomas

I hope we pick up Anthony steen. Looks solid

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Why dont we all try to vote for him a ton of times? Joe posted the link below, I voted about 75 times so I don’t think there is a limit…..Let’s do this!

    • Thomas

      Done.

    • Mz. Sarah

There is no limit trust me!! I’ve already voted at least 1000 times

  • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

I was so impressed by that? Remember a few years ago against the Raiders, where our lineman were dropping like flies? We had Dombrowski in there, and he was getting killed… so were the other back-ups. This game could have very easily gone that way. But, he stepped in there and handled that scandal! I like this guy more & more everyday!

    • joerockt

While you give props to the players, isn’t it amazing what some good coaching will do as well? Coach Joe has those boys on point.

      • Thomas

Coach D!! He is such a good line coach I’m pretty sure he was from the bills and turned the bills into zone blocking with spiller and got that run game rolling!!
