Chargers Defense Strong Again Against Jacksonville

The San Diego Chargers defense delivered another strong performance on Sunday against the Jacksonville Jaguars. John Pagano has gotten these guys turned around. The defense is benefiting from the strong play from the offense and the ball-hogging attitude that they have taken on offense. Philip Rivers and the boys have been playing keep away from other teams and they have been putting up points to give the defense plenty of rest before they get out onto the field.

The defense is finding ways to get pressure on the quarterback without their best pass rushers in the game. The defensive line is playing much stronger of late. Thomas Keiser is playing great at end/linebacker for the team and has been getting pressure off of the edge. Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes have been aggressive and physical up front.

The Chargers held the Jaguars without a touchdown. The guys did the same to the high-powered Colts offense the week before. After the Raiders tore us up in the first half, we held them down as well.

John Pagano has done a good job and if you have visited some of my posts in the past, you know that it takes a lot for me to say this. We need Pagano and the defense to keep up the good work.

The defensive line has been a big reason for the improvement on defense. Corey Liuget and Kendall Reyes have been doing great the last few games and Pagano has been rotating different players at the defensive tackle position.

We really have shifted that defense to work around our personnel. We don’t have that nose tackle to run the 3-4 defense and we have been shifting the defense line over to get the most out of our players.

More credit out to John Pagano for making adjustments to the roster. I can respect that.

Also Shareece Wright didn’t fulfill expectations we had for him the first 2 weeks
But as our now #1 Corner, the kid has played good coming back from injury.
He shut Blackmon down who absolutely killed the Broncos.

do you see Tom Telesco is growing a Cromartie in the practice squad, many players have picked up and release from PS, even some release from the roster like Fozzie Whitaker and wynn but they wont let go Cromartie, they building him up to be like his cousins man!!.

can’t wait to see them unleash him next year

          • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

    Key stats from the game.

    Jags redzone efficiency – 0/3 – 0%
    Jags Goal to go efficiency – 0/2 – 0%
    Jags 3rd down effieciency – 3/11 – 27%

Chargers defense is 9th in the league in points allowed.

    • boltingindiego

the def red zone td #’s are awesome with those 0′s.

    • http://boltbeat.com/ Ernie Padaon

9th in the league is crazy considering that we gave up that game agianst the eagles

  • Sergio Quintero

Pagano didn’t need to pull the exotic blitzes as both Liuget & Reyes are being disruptive, Keiser was a beast, English & Teo were solid, and Shareece Wright looks like a legitimate number 1 corner.

Secondary play has improved, and a massive improvement in goaline defense has kept the opponents point total down.

The chargers defense if you discount the 3 return TD’s the offense has given (2 pick 6′s, and a fumble returned for a TD against the Raiders), the chargers have given up 123 points which equals 17.6 points per game more than good enough to win. I could care less about yards in a passing league but points is the true measuring stick.

more man, a lot more qb pressure and better play calling has helped the past couple weeks.

  • joerockt

BTW, this is now ZERO TD’s in 11 quarters. This is a solid D with a good coach leading them. The Redskins game should be interesting.

  • Cgoodness13

Keep it up pag man, im still going to be critical of ya though
