Chargers Sign OT Mike Remmers Off Buccaneers Practice Squad

The San Diego Chargers have signed OT Mike Remmers off of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad today. Remmers will help provide depth up front for the Chargers. I wonder what this means with King Dunlap? Dunlap has missed the last couple of games with a concussion and there still has not been any signs of him coming back.

With Dunlap out, Mike Harris has been starting at left tackle and Nick Becton has been the depth.

Remmers wsa an undrafted lineman out of Oregon State in 2012 ad spent time with the Denver Broncos and the Buccaneers. He has only been on the practice squad for both of those teams and he could see his first real game action with the Chargers soon.

Remmers, sounds more like a pass rusher… Hehehe. He will certainly provide depth and flexibility at tackle/guard. Big, strong, and atheletic. Haven’t seen him since college. But protecting rivers is priority #1. We need a power RB, maybe it is LeRon?

Mjd to the chargers is gunna happen before the deadline im calling it!:))

    • tubbs45

Hopefully not for high draft picks… It would require a salary exchange for us to beat the salary cap issue.

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

RM24 for MJD straight up, ends the RM era for ever. Draft the RB of the future next season or pickup a guy in FA. I wouldn’t trade any picks for him.

        • tubbs45

That would be awesome, but no way that happens straight up. Aren’t they both in contract years? Where is long term benefit on the jags side? Maybe the chargers can throw in a lifetime supply of ham sandwiches!

          • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

lol they dont get any long term benefits they get RM. They can call it a change of scenery type of deal.

          • tubbs45

There is about a 3 million $ salary difference on mjd’s side… Could we swing that?

          • shayaaa

            Mathews has two more years

Well I think it’s classic McCoy Telesco. Kings concussion may be bit more serious, either way it’s good Harris is playing well, so they don’t have to rush him back. This pick-up could be exactly what it is they are thin, or they are not getting the production they need from linemen, or Rineheart is going to be out a bit longer.

    • tubbs45

Spot on… Notable silence about King…

    • shayaaa

So since Clary is still blowing it at G any chance Harris gets a shot there if/when King comes back healthy?

      • arnie

Couldn’t dis-agree with you more. Clary isn’t “great”, but blowing? No, he’s far from that. Now that Harris is out, the only one getting a shot at RG in Ohnberger. As back-up.

yea… clary has been decent to good on the right side as a guard. I would love to save some money by dropping the big fella, but there is nobody else on the roster that can do it like him at this time. Troutman may be the dude of the future though

        • shayaaa

From PFF “Dud: The idea to move Jeromey Clary (-7.6) to guard has gone about as well as expected. As in to say, it has not gone well.”

  • jcarraboltjc

Maybe the Chargers should schedule weekly “get to know each other” lunches for the rest of the season. They should also invest in those sticky tags people wear at conventions to introduce themselves…”Hi my name is …………….., offensive tackle”. When was the last time a team went through that much turnover in a season? Can’t think of one in any sport.

    • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

If you read NFLtraderumors on a daily basis every NFL does this almost on a daily, you have to in a sport that guys go down for the season almost every game.

    • arnie

It’s just were not used to this type of movement in Chargers Park. aj liked to let the players play out there contracts, veteran players were kept on the roster whether they were performing or not.

  • Rob Base

So this means that Oline isn’t getting back some starters this week. Harris must have more than a ding.

    • tubbs45

      Kings concussion maybe?

  • tubbs45

Gelkin just reported: “Chargers place offensive tackle Michael Harris (ankle) on injured reserve. Out for season.”
