Chargers Add TE Ryan Otten To Practice Squad

Jun 13, 2013; Jacksonville, FL, USA; Jacksonville Jaguars tight end Ryan Otten (88) rushes with the ball during a mini camp held at the Florida Blue Health

The Houston Texans had to place their tight end Owen Daniels on the IR for a while, so they needed some help at the position and signed San Diego Chargers practice squad player Jake Byrne. To fill Byrne’s spot on the roster, the Chargers added San Jose State’s all-time leader in receptions and receiving yards from the tight end position, Ryan Otten.

Otten won’t see any time with the Chargers any time soon with Antonio Gates, Ladarius Green and John Phillips locking down the position for the Chargers. He will get some excellent experience around those guys though.

      Hahaha! True, true, unfortunately true!

Otten is a great college TE. He will need to work on the blocking, but has GREAT hands and could be a great weapon for Philip!
