Chargers Claim DE Lawrence Guy Off Waivers, Release Jarius Wynn

San Diego Chargers GM Tom Telesco reached back in his old bag of Indianapolis Colts players and picked up DE Lawrence Guy off of waivers today. Guy was recently released by the Colts and helped them beat the Seattle Seahawks this weekend by blocking a field goal that was then returned for a touchdown.

Guy has played with the Colts for the last couple of seasons and has 22 tackles in his 11 games. Guy will be new depth to the defensive line.

In order to make room for Guy, the Chargers released Jarius Wynn. Wynn will be known as the guy that dropped Michael Vick right on his back to knock him out of the game for a play.

not sure how to feel about this one… I kind liked Wynn

The only thing i can think of is production. The coaches may be seeing something on film a decided they are not getting enough production from the rotation. And maybe this Guy can help, in depth and experience.

Or maybe it is because we are playing the Colts this week and now have a person who literally just played with them.

I was thinking the same thing. I don’t think I saw much of Wynn on Sunday. For us to release him and pick someone else up to fill his position is a tell-tale sign that he wasn’t impressing them. I’m still a little surprised though.

I thought Wynn was playing VERY well. He was around the ball / QB quite a bit.

I agree about your thoughts about Wynn, hopefully TT knows this guy (Guy) is a better player. We will see what we see.

Cut Gilchrist, play Addae, and bring in Rhodes…he’ll be fine Hillcrest is nearby…….

    • Calman21

I feel bad for Rhodes. The guy can still play, I wonder if he is asking for too much money or owners/gms/HCs don’t want to potentially upset the locker room.

      • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

if he can help SD, get him….dont think he’d be an issue…D is playing horrible right now, they could use all the help they can get…money cap wise is tight though

        • Calman21

Yea, if he would come in for the vet min. I could see it happening, but otherwise we got no money. Plus, I think TT wants to stay with the young guns.

Gilchrist plays better as nickel back… if anything they should cut Richard Marshall…… I’m down with Rhodes..or if anything get Taylor more involved

  • Gunnar Martin

This Guy (see what I did there?) better be good. I thought Wynn was doing great. Kinda weird that a team would release someone that just blocked a field goal for them though…

  • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Weird, like you all I liked Wynn. The body slam of Vick knocking him out of that drive plus a sack was pretty decent. I hope this new guy can prove his worth.

  • FitzWilly

    Stay strong Jarius
    Wynners never quit
    and quiters never Wynn

Tx for the body slam on Vikki :)
