Chargers RB Ryan Mathews Suffers a Concussion Last Night

Ryan Mathews went down in the game last night with a concussion after taking a knee in the helmet last night. Mathews has been a China doll for the team and a magnet for injuries, but I can’t get mad about this one. What can you do to prevent something like that?

It sucks that we had to deal with that in the game against the Raiders, but he had to get out. We have had a ton of concussions to deal with this season already. We have lost DJ Fluker for a game already and we already have lost King Dunlap for a couple of games during the season.

Not sure how long Mathews will be out with the concussion, but we will keep an eye on the situation and his practice reports to see if he will be available for the weekend’s game.

We really have been hit hard with the injury bug this year, but we need to stop looking at that as an excuse. Every team deals with injuries.

I ‘m so glad we didn’t get all bent out of shape over releasing a RB that fumbled and only looked good against 3rd stringers in the pre-season. OH… we DID release Fozzy? He’s in Cleveland?

    • Stefanie Smith

That move was dumb. I am sorry, but whoever made that decision, not good.

      • Trey P

Fozzy is not even better then mcgahee the move was not dumb really what we should of did was sighn a vet annd get rid of Brown

No more skat backs. We need some beef running the ball. Skat backs can’t block the blitzers. Sproles was the exception.

I’m all in for getting a RB that is a playmaker next season. RM24 is no play maker

Is Johnson OK? Still haven’t seen anything.

      hamstring injury… not too serious

      • TheReturnOfMrBlanks

Man I was not much of a JJ fan last year at all but this year he’s our only guy that get to the QB.

        • boltingindiego

honestly i don’t know if he didn’t work on his pass rush or just wasn’t used to rushing the qb last year but he has improved big time this year.

apparently mccoy is supposed to update, but you know how that works

      • http://www.BoltBeat.com/ Peter Thompson

Glad to hear it’s not serious. That would be a huge blow to absorb… again.

  • Gunnar Martin

Can’t get mad at Mathews for this one. Concussions are a whole different story than other injuries.

Many of you said Mathews was a Stud, now you know he is a DUD! I will be glad to see him gone in the off season. Where is Fozzy when you need him, oh yeah, playing on another team. Not a smart move by the Bolts organization.
