Chargers S Brandon Taylor Has Not Been Ready, Will Have Big Role When He Is

There has been a lot of questions about Brandon Taylor’s availability. He has not been mentioned on the injury report and has not missed any practices, but the is still recovering from a reconstructive knee injury that he had in January.

“Each guy is going to react differently to surgeries,” defensive coordinator John Pagano said. “I’m no doctor. I’m not a medical guy. But it’s about keeping players safe and the opportunity to go out there. Once he grows more confidence playing on that leg and cutting out here on the field, he’s going to have a role for us, and he’s going to have a big-time role for us. It’s safe to say it’s fair to him to give him that opportunity to keep (improving) without putting him in a (game) situation.”

People are eager to see Taylor get back on the field. The secondary has had their troubles and any help would be welcomed immediately. Marcus Gilchrist has had his troubles back there. Jahleel Addae is an undrafted free agent and is getting his opportunities in dime packages. At some point, Taylor will get back on the field and help contribute.

That would be a nice addition and much needed help in the secondary!

I’m pretty stoked about Taylor. I think he could be a real playmaker in the secondary. I hope he’s ready soon.

Yep! Count me in as one who has been wondering what the deal was with him. Can’t wait to get him healthy and on the field. Has he even been practicing? I mean it seems there has been a information Black Hole around this guy. #GoBolts!

Yes, I was wondering the same thing. I mean, he was there in the preseason. Then, nada! Then I read the article that he got hit in the knee. Setback after a surgery. he has to be healthy before he can see live action. The fact that this staff is not ready to put guys in harms way is promising. It also gives the healthy guys a chance to improve which we will benefit from next season.

McCoy holds the injury report close to his chest like a hand of cards… Much like Belicheck and the Pats as any great team should. This way anthoer team can’t plan against us without assuming these key players will be in… This is why Taylor and T’eo and many others have been so guarded regarding their return. Smart football.

He laid a big hit against the cards in preseason! Who remebers that?

  • I_Bleed_Powder_Blue_801

Did Taylor have a set back bc they played him in the preseason??? He disappeared off the radar after….

    • Gunnar Martin

whats his instagram? i wanna see

  • Gunnar Martin

Hopefully we will eventually start him at SS and move Gilchrist down to slot corner. That would really increase the talent level on the field.

I wasn’t expecting to see him until after the bye week, anyway. He only had surgery in January. I was surprised when he played in preseason. I thought he might be ready for the season, like people were saying. But, it looks like they are being cautious, and rightfully so. I expect the same with Ingram. I doubt we see him this year. These guys are young, with careers ahead of them. No need to gamble. Just let the boy get that knee healthy.. he’s gonna be a BEAST!!! Go Bolts!!!

    • Nick in PB

Yes… Taylor is going to be a good one. When he is back, full strength, release the BEAST!
