On Sunday the Chargers face their first divisional opponent of the season and that makes it the most important game so far.  If the Chargers want to make the playoffs this year they HAVE, HAVE to beat the Raiders twice.  With the Chiefs and the Broncos playing so well it is crucial that we don’t slip up against the worst team in our division.  With that being said, here are some players to watch this Sunday:

Eddie Royal

Let’s start with the man up there.  Royal started out the season on fire, scoring 5 times in the first two games.  In last two games his numbers have been okay, not amazing, and he has failed to find the end zone.  Let’s see if he can get his breakout year back on track and catch a couple TDs this Sunday.

The picture of Keenan………What was he thinking?

This is the game that all the Bolts dreams were made of, English – Butler – Liguet – Reyes – JJ will have sacks, I’d love to see Cox pick off TP and live up to his contract and make some Big plays. Keenan Allen is going to light up Hayden and have the game of his life, Woodhead is going to do whatever he feels like, wheel routes, big runs, dump off, bubble screens. I even think RM24 will have a big game, yep i said it English and Mathews having games of their lives!!

      Wake up, you’re dreaming.

Derek Cox concerns me. He stands back and waits for the receiver to catch the ball. He needs to be taught how to bump off the line and then read the receiver as you stay two to two with them. Giving them a running head start you will get burned every time. This problem needs to be fixed before we play the Chiefs and Peyton’s Ponies.

you do know that the corners don’t decide one each play whether they should play off or bump and run. It’s on the dc to decide on what type of coverage is called.

That’s kind of what I meant by it needs to be fixed. Our coaches need to play the corners more aggressive and be sure they know how to do that. Our defensive setup on that last play in Tenn was terrible.

The scheme, and play calling has been bad. But, so has the player. Both coach & player are underperforming at this point. After re-watching a couple of the games, I just can’t concede that it is 100% a product of Pagano’s system. I would be lying to myself.

Great article Dave!!! I am going to be watching Te’O. They are going to send Reece at him heavily, I imagine. Also, an INT could be in his future if Pryor gets squirrely, and makes a bad decision!!!
