Watching Manti Te’o's Snap Count

Sep 29, 2013; San Diego, CA, USA; San Diego Chargers linebacker Manti Te

Looking over the snap counts from the game on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys: Manti Te’o saw a whole 14 snaps and Reggie Walker played a whole 45 snaps. This definitely will be something we will be watching going into the Raiders game. Manti Te’o is the more talented player and should be getting the bulk of the playing time, but the team MIGHT be easing him back into action. MIGHT. Maybe. Hopefully that is the reason.

When Manti was on the field, he showed strong instincts and was always around the football. That is something that we all should expect from him. Against the Oakland Raiders, I expect him to be around the football and using his instincts to put himself in the proper position.

It will be interesting to see how much time he gets against the Oakland Raiders. The Raiders rely on running the football. Terrelle Pryor likes to run around and escape the pocket. Te’o may have to spy him during some plays. The Raiders will also want to pound the running game with Darren McFadden (if he is healthy enough) or Rashad Jennings. That is the part of the game that we will be watching with Manti.

In college, Alabama ran the football right at him and the offensive linemen over powered him on plays. What will Te’o do when teams run at him this year. Will he be able to fight off of the blockers? Only time will tell.

      did he talk about it?

      • Heidijoy

Yes. He was asked about snaps and he explained the approach of gradually adding, so he can be successful. He said it was like what they did with Butler when he was injured and coming back. He also was pleased with himself for predicting Manti would have the first tackle of the game.:) Should be posted on Official site soon.

What a relief that he will not be “Ingramed”

Hmmm. As long as it actually works, then okay. My concern is these coaches get fixed on their system whether it is the best thing to do or not.

Man what’s the deal?? You guys locked me out, couldn’t log in? Did I say something wrong?? :).

Anyway, as long as they keep making decisions that will enable Manti’ to slowly get his game going, and do not try and put him in un-winable situations, this dude is going to be a monster. I think it’s a good thing, we do have to beware of all the a-holes out there just waiting for him to fall on his face so they can crank up the BS yet again. I bet TT is driving this sort of media / game plan campaign. TT is one smart dude, and I do think Pags needs his hand held at times. I bet dude has a big time game, first sack, or forced fumble, or INT, something to get his juices flowing. Come on brutha, we got your back, Bolt Up!!

You got locked out??? I don’t even know how that happens

I want a huge poster of Manti standing over Pryor for his first sack. Oh baby can’t wait to see more and more Manti. Hopefully he does a good job spying Pryor and negates him of any crazy runs. Let’s hope Pryor has one of his terrible accuracy nights and Manti can get his hands on a pick or a deflection too. Freakin Kiko Alonso already has 4 INT’s and leads the league that dude is a lock for DROTY.

I’m a big Manti fan but sacking pryor is a really hard challenge, the guy runs a 4.38 40 yard dash, he’s faster than Weddle who ran a 4.48 when he was a young pup, well… Pryor is faster than most of our players really couple with the fact he’s elusive too, Eddie Royal who’s probably our fastest active player runs a 4.39 so yeah just decimal slower… I mean hey, its the Raiders here they love their players fast.

But i think if Te’o or anyone in our front 7 will get a sack on Pryor, it would probably be due to team effort, at least 2 in backfield at the same time to contain him like when Reyes and Te’o sacked last game.

Pagano was on the Drive (1360) yesterday too. He said T’eo is starting in the base package and working his way into all phases of the defense Gradually… It is an issue of conditioning having missed 30+ practice days. A Pyror sack would be the best, but I’ll take the W without injuries all day (or night) long!!!
